News from the Elementary Principal
"READ Around the World" is this year's reading contest's theme. We will have our opening assembly tomorrow, September 27, at 8:15 a.m. Parents are invited to spend the morning doing fun activities with their PACA Elementary student. Please do not bring younger children to the activity time. The activities are not geared for them. Students and parents that are participating are asked to wear Brazil colors for the reading contest kickoff. Elementary students may leave at lunch time if they have a note or if their parents pick them up. There will be supervision for those who stay on campus.

News from the Guidance Counselor
Here is a list of the next college visits and fairs that will happen this month for our high school students. Please remember that parents are invited to attend. If you have any questions, e-mail me at [email protected].

> September 27 – Mini Canada Fair: Dalhousie University, Memorial University of Newfoundland, University of New Brunswick, University of Prince Edward Island, Université Sainte-Anne, for seniors, at 8 a.m., in the auditorium
> September 30 – Liberty University - at 11:35 a.m., for College Apps students, in the computer lab

The 10th and 11th graders will take the PSAT on Saturday, October 19. The seniors will take the practice ENEM that day. Attendance is required for all students in these grades.

 

 

 

Campus Closed
The SAT will be administered at PACA on Saturday, October 5. Campus is closed for all other activities that day.

PTS conferences
Pre-K – 12th grade parents, Parent, Teacher, Student Conferences will be held on Wednesday, October 9. Attendance is required for all parents and for students in 2nd – 12th grades. The office staff is already calling parents to schedule conferences.

 

Library News
The PACA library will host SBS (Special Book Services) as they sell new English books for Pre-K through high school students on Wednesday, October 9. Books can be purchased that day from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please stop by with your child to look at the books after your conferences, so that you have plenty of time to look through all the options. Starting next week, the Elementary students will have their library time to look at the books and make wish lists, if they desire to do so. The actual sale will take place only on October 9.

Sports
Upcoming games

The varsity basketball teams have a home game against Graded on Friday, September 27, at 5 p.m. The JV games were cancelled.

The boys’ varsity soccer team will play a home game against EAC on Saturday, September 28, at 9:30 a.m. The girls’ game was rescheduled for Tuesday, October 15, at 4 p.m.

The JV basketball festival will take place on Saturday, September 28, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Boys and girls will play at PACA. Lunch (hot dogs with mashed potatoes and other toppings, fruit, juice and homemade dessert) will be sold for R$ 10. Baked goods and drinks will also be on sale.

The varsity soccer teams will play at Graded on Tuesday, October 1, at 4:30 p.m.

Menu – September 30 – October 4
Monday: ground beef, potatoes, rice, beans and omelet

Tuesday: breaded chicken breasts, rice, beans, spinach

Wednesday: goulash, rice, beans, mashed potatoes

Thursday: diced chicken breasts with tomatoes and olives, rice, beans and green beans

Friday (special reading contest lunch): chickpea curry salad, beef yakissoba, tabbouleh, German apple cake

Community Announcements
House for sale: on R. José Portolano, 2 stories, 4 bedrooms, 1 suite with a walk-in closet, 1 bathroom in the 2nd story of the house, living room, dining room, big kitchen, backyard, garage for 2 cars, R$ 500,000 – negotiable. If you are interested, please call Isabel at 5924-6337 or 99430-6457.

Fundraising Tea: The PACA community is invited to the fundraising tea for the Novidade de Vida Institute, on October 5, at 3:30 p.m., at the Collinas Buffet on Av. Atlântica 5932. All of the funds will be donated to INDV’s social projects, especially to the Arca das Crianças branch, formerly presided by PACA parents Matthias and Julia Iseli. The INDV, founded in 2006, helps 100 families in 4 needy areas in the southern area of the city on a weekly basis. Over 750 people receive help in the professional, spiritual, family relationship, health and other areas on a monthly basis. Arca das Crianças assists 200 children in the Jardim Noronha community, an area that suffers with violence and drug dealing. See you there!

Elementary gymnastics: There will be an Elementary gymnastics class on campus for ages 7 through 5th grade every Thursday after school. The first class will be on October 3. There is a monthly fee. The instructor has limited the class size. Contact Mr. or Mrs. Costello at 5929-9528 if you are interested.

Notícias da Diretora do Elementary
"Lendo pelo Mundo" é o tema do concurso de leitura deste ano. A assembleia de abertura acontecerá amanhã, dia 27 de setembro, às 8h15. Os pais do Elementary estão convidados a passar a manhã fazendo atividades divertidas com as crianças do Kindergarten ao 5º ano. Por gentileza, pedimos que os pais não tragam crianças que ainda não estão na PACA para participar das atividades. Pedimos também que os alunos e pais que participarão da abertura do concurso de leitura vistam as cores da bandeira brasileira amanhã. Os alunos do Elementary poderão ir para casa na hora do almoço se tiverem um bilhete assinado pelos pais ou se os pais vierem buscá-los. Haverá supervisão para os alunos que permanecerem na escola.

Notícias da Orientadora Educacional
Nos próximos dias, acontecerão as seguintes visitas e feiras universitárias para os nossos alunos do Ensino Médio. Os pais são muito bem-vindos e encorajados a participar. Caso tenham perguntas, mandem uma mensagem para [email protected].

Os alunos do 10º e 11º ano farão o PSAT no sábado, dia 19 de outubro. Os alunos do 12º ano farão o simulado do ENEM nesse dia. A presença é obrigatória para todos os alunos dessas turmas.

Campus Fechado
O SAT (exame para ingresso em universidades americanas) será oferecido na PACA no sábado, dia 5 de outubro. O campus estará fechado para quaisquer atividades nesse dia.

Reuniões de Pais, Mestres e Alunos
As reuniões de pais, mestres e alunos (PTS conferences) da pré-escola ao 12º ano acontecerão na quarta-feira, dia 9 de outubro. A presença dos pais é obrigatória. Os alunos do 2º ao 12º participarão das reuniões junto com os seus pais. A secretaria já está entrando em contato com os pais para agendar as reuniões.

Notícias da Biblioteca
A SBS (Special Book Services) venderá livros novos na biblioteca da PACA na quarta-feira, dia 09 de outubro (dia da reunião de pais, mestres e alunos). Confiram boas opções de livros para alunos da pré-escola ao Ensino Médio, após a sua reunião. A partir da próxima semana, os alunos do Elementary poderão folhear os livros na biblioteca e anotar os títulos que gostariam de comprar. A venda acontecerá apenas no dia 09 de outubro.

Próximos jogos

Os times de basquete do varsity jogarão em casa, contra a Graded, na sexta-feira, dia 27 de setembro, a partir das 17 horas. Os jogos do JV foram cancelados.

O time de futebol masculino do varsity jogará em casa contra a EAC no sábado, dia 28 de setembro, às 9h30. O jogo das meninas mudou para terça-feira, dia 15 de outubro, às 16 horas.

O festival de basquete do JV acontecerá no sábado, dia 28 de setembro, das 9 horas às 15h30. Os meninos e as meninas jogarão na PACA. Haverá almoço (cachorro quente com purê de batatas e outras coberturas, fruta, suco e sobremesa caseira) à venda por R$ 10. Bebidas e doces também serão vendidos nesse dia.

Os times de futebol do varsity jogarão na Graded na terça-feira, dia 1º de outubro, às 16h30.

Segunda-feira: carne moída, batata arroz, feijão e omelete
Terça-feira: filé de frango à milanesa, arroz, feijão e creme de espinafre
Quarta-feira: goulash, arroz, feijão e purê de batata
Quinta-feira: peito de frango em cubos com tomate e azeitona, arroz, feijão e vagem
Sexta-feira (almoço especial do concurso de leitura): salada de grão de bico com curry, yakissoba de carne, tabule e bolo cuca de maçã

Chá Beneficente: Convidamos a comunidade da PACA para o Chá Beneficente do Instituto Novidade de Vida, em 5 de outubro às 15h30, no Collinas Buffet, Av. Atlântica 5.932. Toda renda será revertida aos projetos sociais do INDV, principalmente à filial Arca das Crianças, anteriormente presidida por Matthias e Julia Iseli, pais da PACA. O INDV, fundado em 2006, atende semanalmente 100 famílias em 4 comunidades carentes na zona sul de São Paulo. Mais de 750 pessoas são atendidas mensalmente, assistidas nas áreas profissional, espiritual, relacionamento familiar, saúde, entre outras. A filial ARCA das Crianças atende regularmente 200 crianças na comunidade do Jardim Noronha, região que sofre com a violência e tráfico de drogas. Até lá!

Ginástica olímpica para alunos do Elementary: Haverá um curso de ginástica olímpica para crianças de 7 anos ao 5th grade, todas as quintas--feiras após o horário de aulas. A primeira aula será no dia 3 de outubro. Há um custo mensal. O instrutor limitou o tamanho da turma. Caso tenham interesse, entrem em contato com o Sr. ou Sra. Costello no 5929-9528.
