Easter Food Drive

Every year, the high school Student Council organizes a food drive to help provide for the needs of the children from Lar Tia Edna. Each class has been assigned a goal with specific items. Please check with your children to find out which products their classes were assigned to bring. Monetary donations will also be gladly accepted. The food drive will end on Thursday, March 29.

Easter Week

We will have three special events next week as we prepare for Easter. On Tuesday, March 27, parents, students, teachers and friends are invited to pray with us for our students and their families, for our city and nation. The conference room will be available from 9am to 3:30pm for those who would like to pray on campus. On Wednesday, March 28, join PACA teachers and staff in a time of fasting as we seek God’s will for our students, each other, and the school. If you would like to donate the money you would have spent on food during this day of fasting to Lar Tia Edna, there will be a donation box in the main office. We will have an Easter sunrise service in the gym on Thursday, March 29, from 6:30 to 7:15 a.m. Our special speaker for this event is Pr. Cullen Rast. Childcare will not be available. Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria at 7:15 a.m. for those who participate in the service. Please RSVP here for the Sunrise Service and Breakfast. Our all-school Easter assembly will be held on March 29, at 8:20 a.m., in the gym. Parents and friends are invited to celebrate our Savior’s resurrection with us. Please remember that March 29 is a full day of school. There will be no school on Friday, March 30.

There will be no school on March 30 and April 2, due to the Easter holidays.

Parent Teacher Student (PTS) Conferences

Parent, Teacher, Student Conferences will take place on Thursday, April 5! Parents, please contact the school office to set up appointments to meet with teachers that day. Students in Kindergarten - 12th grade need to accompany their parents to the meetings. High school and middle school students that were on the honor roll during 1st and 2nd quarters are exempt from second semester conferences.

No School for PK and Kindergarten

Preschool parents, a letter went home on March 2 informing that there will be no school for PK1 and PK2 students (only) on April 16 and 17.

Sports
Results

Last Friday, our varsity boys’ futsal and girls’ volleyball teams played at EAC. The boys lost (6x5), and the girls lost (3x0).

Calendar Update

On Tuesday, March 27, our varsity girls’ futsal and boys’ volleyball teams will play at home against EAC. The games will be simultaneous, starting at 4:15pm and will end in time for the late bus.

On Wednesday, March 28, our JV & varsity girls’ volleyball and boys’ futsal teams will play at Chapel. The varsity girls and JV boys will play first, starting at 4:30pm.

On Tuesday, April 3, our varsity girls’ futsal and boys’ volleyball teams will have their last games of the league, at home, against Chapel. The games will be simultaneous, starting at 5pm.

On Wednesday, April 4, our JV & varsity boys’ softball teams will play at Chapel. The JV will play first, starting at 4:30pm.

On Friday, April 6, our JV & varsity girls’ volleyball and boys’ futsal teams will play at St. Paul´s. The varsity girls and JV boys will play first, starting at 5pm.

On Saturday, April 7, our varsity girls’ futsal and boys’ volleyball will end their season with semifinals and finals at Chapel. The girls’ futsal team will play first, starting at 9am. All games will be over by 2pm.

On Sunday, April 8, our varsity girls’ volleyball and boys’ futsal teams will go to the Inter 6 Tournament and stay until Wednesday, April 11. Please pray for our teams and coaches. Also please hand in all forms as soon as possible.

On Tuesday, April 10, our JV boys’ softball team and JV girls’ futsal team will have home games against Graded. The games will be simultaneous and will start at 4:30pm.

Fund Raising

The Athletic Department will be selling baked good during PTS on Thursday, April 5. If you are willing to help, please see Mrs. Buchanan.

Yearbook

The yearbook students are in the process of creating the 2017-2018 yearbook, and are in need of pictures. Please send us candid photos of students at school events both on and off campus. It would be greatly appreciated if you could send these by the end of March to our email: [email protected]. Thank you!

High School Practice Exams

On Saturday, April 14, the 10th and 11th grade students will take practice tests (simulados) of the ACT, SAT, or ENEM at PACA. Some of the 12th grade students will participate too. Please be aware that this is a school day. Teachers will take attendance. If students are absent on April 14, they will be required to make up the practice test on April 16 in the morning.

There is an alternative. On April 14, the official ACT will be administered in São Paulo, at Graded, Bandeirantes and other venues. If your child signs up to take the official ACT, he/she will need to bring a copy of the registration/admission ticket to Mrs. Kuhnast, so they are excused from taking the practice exam at PACA that Saturday.

The library will sell new books in English and Portuguese on Thursday, April 5, from 8am to 4pm. Arrecadação de Alimentos

O grêmio estudantil organiza uma arrecadação anual de alimentos em prol das crianças do Lar Tia Edna. Cada classe tem o alvo de arrecadar itens específicos. Cada classe recebeu uma lista de itens a ser doados. Doações em dinheiro também são bem-vindas. A arrecadação de alimentos terminará na quinta-feira, dia 29 de março.

Semana de Páscoa

Teremos três eventos especiais na próxima semana, quando nos preparamos para a Páscoa. Pais, alunos, professores e amigos estão convidados a orar pelos alunos e suas famílias, pela cidade e pela nação na terça-feira, dia 27 de março. A sala de conferências estará à disposição, das 9 às 15h30, para aqueles que quiserem orar no campus. Na quarta-feira, dia 28 de março, convidamos todos a participarem de um dia de jejum. Se quiserem ofertar o dinheiro que seria gasto com alimentação nesse dia de jejum para o Lar Tia Edna, haverá uma caixa de doações na secretaria. Na quinta-feira, dia 29 de março, haverá o culto da alvorada no ginásio, das 6h30 às 7h15. O Pr. Cullen Rast, compartilhará uma palavra especial. Não contaremos com monitores para as crianças. Às 7h15, serviremos um café da manhã, no refeitório, para aqueles que participarem do culto. Por favor, confirmem sua presença aqui. Às 8h20, acontecerá a assembleia de Páscoa no ginásio. Pais e amigos estão convidados a celebrar a ressurreição do nosso Salvador conosco. (Haverá aula em período integral no dia 29 de março.) Não haverá aula no dia 30 de março devido ao feriado de Páscoa.

Reunião de Pais, Mestres e Alunos

As reuniões de pais, mestres e alunos acontecerão no dia 05 de abril! Pais, por favor, entrem em contato com a secretaria para agendar os horários das reuniões. Os alunos do Kindergarten ao 12º ano participarão das reuniões juntamente com os seus pais neste segundo semestre. Neste semestre, os alunos do middle school e high school que estiveram no honor roll durante o primeiro e o segundo bimestres estão dispensados da reunião de pais, mestres e alunos.

Pais da pré-escola, uma carta informativa foi enviada para casa em 02 de março, informando que não haverá aula (somente) para os alunos do PK1 e PK2 nos dias 16 e 17 de abril.

Resultados

Na sexta-feira passada, os times de futsal masculino e vôlei feminino do varsity jogaram na EAC. Os meninos perderam (6x5), e as meninas perderam (3x0).

Calendário

Na terça-feira, dia 27 de março, os times de futebol feminino e vôlei masculino do varsity jogarão em casa contra a EAC. Os jogos serão simultâneos, às 16h15, e terminarão em tempo dos alunos pegarem o ônibus do esporte às 18 horas.

Na quarta-feira, dia 28 de março, os times de vôlei feminino e futsal masculino do JV e do varsity jogarão na Chapel. As meninas do varsity e os meninos do JV jogarão primeiro, a partir das 16h30.

Na terça-feira, dia 03 de abril, os times de futsal feminino e vôlei masculino do varsity farão os últimos jogos da temporada regular, em casa, contra a Chapel. Os jogos serão simultâneos, às 17 horas.

Na quarta-feira, dia 04 de abril, os times masculinos de softball do JV e do varsity jogarão na Chapel. O JV jogará primeiro, às 16h30.

Na sexta-feira, dia 06 de abril, os times de vôlei feminino e futsal masculino do JV e do varsity jogarão na St. Paul’s. As meninos do varsity e os meninos do JV jogarão primeiro, às 17 horas.

No sábado, dia 07 de abril, as meninas do futsal e os meninos do vôlei do varisty terminarão a temporada como jogos semifinais e finais na Chapel. As meninas do futsal jogarão primeiro, às 9 horas. Todos os jogos terminarão até às 14 horas.

No domingo, dia 08 de abril, os times de vôlei feminino e futsal masculino do varsity participarão do torneio Inter 6 até quarta-feira, dia 11 de abril. Por favor, orem pelos técnicos e pelos jogadores. Entreguem os formulários necessários o quanto antes.

Na terça-feira, dia 10 de abril, os meninos do softball e as meninas do futsal do JV jogarão em casa contra a Grades. Os jogos serão simultâneos, às 16h30.

Ajuda Financeira

O departamento esportivos venderá gostosuras para arrecadar fundos para os torneios é durante as reuniões de pais, mestres e alunos no dia 05 de abril. Caso possa ajudar, por favor, entre em contato com a Mrs. Buchanan.

Anuário da Escola (Yearbook)

Os alunos responsáveis pela elaboração do yearbook de 2017-18 precisam de fotos. Por favor, enviem fotos dos alunos em eventos escolares que aconteceram dentro e fora da PACA. Agradecemos sua colaboração! Enviem as fotos até o final de março para o seguinte e-mail: [email protected].

Simulados do Ensino Médio

No sábado, dia 14 de abril os alunos do 10º e 11º anos farão simulados do ACT, SAT ou ENEM na PACA. Alguns dos alunos do 12º ano participarão também. Por favor, lembrem-se de que esse sábado é considerado dia letivo, e os professores farão chamada. Os alunos que perderem o simulado no dia 14, precisarão fazê-lo no dia 16 de abril, pela manhã.

Há uma alternativa. No dia 14 de abril, o ACT oficial será aplicado em vários locais em São Paulo, entre eles a Graded e o Colégio Bandeirantes. Se o seu filho se inscreveu para o ACT oficial, ele deverá trazer uma cópia da inscrição para a Mrs. Kuhnast, para que ele seja dispensado do simulado na PACA.

A biblioteca venderá livros novos em Português e Inglês na quinta-feira, dia 05 de abril, das 8 às 16h00. Os livros estarão expostos na biblioteca do 26 de março ao dia 5 de abril. Os alunos do elementary poderão fazer suas listas de pedidos de livros durante as aulas na biblioteca, mas os livros serão vendidos apenas no dia 05 de abril. Passem na biblioteca depois das suas reuniões com os professores para conferir os livros! A biblioteca aceitará cheques e cartão de débito.

Math Counts

Congratulations to PACA’s Math Counts team A (Katie Costello, Annabelle Bann, Edward Cho and Lucas Teixeira) for the 1st place at the Math Counts tournament! Congratulations to Edward Cho for the 4th place in the individual competition and to Katie Costello for finishing in 2nd place!

International Festival

This year’s International Festival will take place this Saturday, March 17. Invite your friends and extended family! Tickets are already on sale. (Parents, please be aware that students may not be bring water guns to school on this day.)

No School for PK and Kindergarten

Student ID Card – Half Price Tickets

According to Federal Decree 8537, in order for a student to have the right to the benefit of half-price tickets at cultural and sporting events, he/she must present a government approved student ID card, known as Carteira de Identificação Estudantil (CIE). This is required at the moment of the purchase of tickets and at the entrance of the venue where the event will be held. In order to be considered valid, the CIE must have been issued by student unions, such UNE, Ubes or UMES. Parents, to find out more about the official student ID card that allows your child to pay half price at the movies, theater, etc., and how to request a CIE, visit the websites for UNE, Ubes or SPTrans (it is possible to request a public bus card – Bilhete Único – associated with the official student ID card benefits). The International Student Identity Card – ISIC, issued by STB, is not valid for the half price benefit. UMES, the secondary students’ union, left some application forms for their government approved student ID card in the main office; their card costs R$ 25. If you are interested, please pick up an application with Marcia Teixeira or Annelise Liu by next Friday.

Results

On March 6, our varsity boys’ softball team played at home against Graded and lost (7x6).

On March 6, our varsity boys’ volleyball and girls’ futsal teams played at home against Graded. The boys lost (3x1) and the girls won (5x4).

On March 9, our varsity girls’ volleyball and boys’ futsal teams played at home against Graded. The girls lost (3x1) and the boys won (7x3). This was their first win on the season! Thank you to all that came and cheered them on.

On March 13, the varsity boys’ volleyball, girls’ futsal and boys’ softball teams played against Graded. The volleyball team lost (0x3), the futsal team tied (1x1) and the softball team lost (21x8).

Carteirinha de Estudante - Meia Entrada

De acordo com o decreto 8537, para ter direito ao benefício de meia entrada em eventos culturais e esportivos, os alunos deverão apresentar uma Carteira de Identificação Estudantil (CIE) no momento da compra do ingresso e na entrada do local de realização do evento. Para ser considerada válida, a CIE deve ter sido expedida por diretórios acadêmicos ou uniões estudantis, como a UNE e Ubes. Pais, para saber mais sobre o documento do estudante e como solicitar a CIE do seu filho, acesse os sites da UNE, da Ubes ou da SPTrans (é possível solicitar um bilhete único estudantil conveniado ao documento do estudante). A Carteira Mundial do Estudante - ISIC, emitida pela STB, não é válida para meia entrada. A UMES, a União Municipal dos Estudantes Secundaristas de São Paulo, deixou alguns formulários de solicitação de carteira estudantil na secretaria; o custo é de R$ 25. Caso tenham interesse, por favor, retirem um formulário com Marcia Teixeira ou Annelise Liu até a próxima sexta-feira.

No dia 06 de março, os meninos do softball do varsity jogaram em casa contra a Graded e perderam (7 x 6).

No dia 06 de março, o time de futsal feminino e vôlei masculino do varsity jogaram em casa contra a Graded. Os meninos perderam (1 x 3), e as meninas ganharam (5 x 4).

No dia 09 de março, os times de vôlei feminino e futsal masculino do varsity jogaram em casa contra a Graded. As meninas perderam (3 x 1), e os meninos ganharam (7 x 3). Essa foi a primeira vitória dos meninos na temporada! Agradecemos a todos que vieram torcer pelos nossos times!

No dia 13 de março, os times de vôlei masculino, futsal feminino e softball masculino do varsity jogaram contra a Graded. O time de vôlei perdeu (0x3), o time de futsal empatou (1x1) e o time de softball perdeu (21x8).

Math Counts

The following students will represent PACA at the AASB middle school Math Counts competition on March 8 & 9: Samuel Araújo, Annabelle Bann, Edward Cho, Katie Costello, Victor Hong, Augusto Jang, Judy Lee, Francisco Morales & Lucas Teixeira.

Parent Teacher Student (PTS) Conferences

Parent, Teacher, Student Conferences are coming up in a month! A letter with detailed information about the meetings was sent home on March 5. Our office staff is already contacting parents to set up appointments to meet with teachers on Thursday, April 5. Students in Kindergarten - 12th grade need to accompany their parents to the meetings. Please arrive 30 minutes before your first appointment. This will give you time to look over your child’s portfolio, and prevent the conferences from running late. High school and middle school students that were on the honor roll during 1st and 2nd quarters are exempt from second semester conferences. If your child is exempt from conferences, but you would like to meet with the teachers, you are welcome to do so.

Student Intention Forms for 2018/19

Parents, we are still missing many registration forms for next school year. If you have not filled out a form for your child, please do so by March 9. This intention form reserves your child’s spot at PACA for the 2018-2019 school year. If you need another copy of the form, contact Annelise Liu at 5929-9500 or e-mail her at [email protected].

International Festival

This year’s International Festival will take place on Saturday, March 17. Tickets are already on sale. Parents, please be aware that students may not be bring water guns (of any size or kind) to school on this day.

The Science Fair, Art Show, and Library Sale are coming up! Reserve the evening of Friday, May 4, on your calendars.

Sports

Results

On March 2, our varsity girls’ volleyball and boys’ futsal teams played at home against St. Paul’s. The girls lost (3x0). The boys also lost (8x1).

On March 6, our varsity girls’ futsal and boys’ volleyball teams played at home against Graded. The girls won (5 x 4), and the boys lost (1 x 3).

Also on March 6, our varsity boys’ softball team played at home against Graded. The boys lost (6 x 7).

Sports Calendar Update

On Friday, March 9, our JV & Varsity girls’ volleyball and boys’ futsal will play at home against Graded. The games will start at 4:30pm. The Varsity girls and JV boys will play first. This will also be the night that we will honor the senior athletes.

On Saturday, March 10, our JV girls’ volleyball and boys’ futsal teams will have their festivals. The boys will play at Chapel and the girls at PACA. The schedule is available on PlusPortals, under sports groups.

On Tuesday, March 13, there will be JV & Varsity boys’ softball, varsity girls’ futsal and boys’ volleyball games at Graded. The varsity boys’ volleyball and JV boys’ softball teams will play first, at 4:30pm.

On Friday, March 16, our Varsity girls’ volleyball and boys’ futsal teams will play at EAC. The games will be simultaneous, starting at 5pm.

Fund Raising

This Saturday, March 10, PACA will host the JV Girls’ Volleyball Festival. The Athletic Department will sell lunch. If you would like to help in any way please talk to Mrs. Buchanan ASAP.

Reunião de Pais, Mestres e Alunos

As reuniões de pais, mestres e alunos acontecerão em um mês! Uma carta explicativa foi enviada para casa com os alunos no dia 05 de março. As secretárias já estão entrando em contato com os pais para agendar os horários dessas reuniões, que acontecerão na quinta-feira, dia 05 de abril. Os alunos do Kindergarten ao 12º ano participarão das reuniões juntamente com os seus pais neste segundo semestre. Por favor, estejam na escola trinta minutos antes do seu horário marcado. Isso impedirá que ocorram atrasos em cascata. Use esse tempo extra para olhar a pasta do seu filho. Neste semestre, os alunos do middle school e high school que estiveram no honor roll durante o primeiro e o segundo bimestres estão dispensados da reunião de pais, mestres e alunos. Pais de alunos isentos que queiram marcar reuniões com os professores, poderão fazê-lo.

Formulários de Intenção para 2018/19

Pais, não recebemos diversos formulários de intenção para o próximo ano letivo. Caso não tenham preenchido o formulário do seu filho, por favor, façam isso até 09 de março. Festival Internacional

O Festival Internacional acontecerá no sábado, dia 17 de março. Os ingressos já estão à venda. Pais, os alunos não deverão trazer arminhas de água (de qualquer tamanho ou tipo) para escola neste dia.

Resultados

No dia 02 de março, os times de vôlei feminino e futsal do masculino do varsity jogaram em casa contra a St. Paul’s. As meninas perderam (3x0). Os meninos também perderam (8x1).

No dia 06 de março, o time de futsal feminino e vôlei masculino do varsity jogaram em casa contra a Graded. As meninas ganharam (5 x 4), e os meninos perderam (1 x 3).

Também em 06 de março, os meninos do softball do varsity jogaram em casa contra a Graded. Os meninos perderam (6 x 7).

Calendário

Na sexta-feira, dia 09 de março, as meninas do vôlei e os meninos do futsal do JV e do varsity jogarão em casa contra a Graded. Os jogos começarão às 16h30. Os meninos do JV e as meninas do varsity jogarão primeiro. Esta é a noite em que faremos a homenagem aos atletas do 12º ano.

No sábado, dia 10 de março, as meninas do vôlei e os meninos do futsal do JV terão os seus festivais. Os meninos jogarão na Chapel, e as meninas na PACA. A programação está disponível no PlusPortals, nos Grupos Esportivos.

Na terça-feira, dia 13 de março, haverá jogos de softball masculino do JV e do varsity, futsal feminino e vôlei masculino do varsity na Graded. Os meninos do vôlei do varsity e o time de softball do JV jogarão primeiro, às 16h30.

Recent Results

On February 20, the varsity boys’ volleyball and girls’ futsal teams travelled to EAC for their first games of the season. The boys won (3x2), and the girls lost (2x1). The JV girls’ futsal also played that day, and tied (1x1).

On February 23, the varsity girls’ volleyball and boys’ futsal teams played at home against Chapel. The girls won (3x0), and the boys lost (9x6). Thank you to all that came and supported our teams. The JV teams also played, both boys and girls won!

On February 27, the JV & varsity boys’ softball teams had their first game of the season against Chapel. Both teams won (JV 14 x 1 & varsity 21 x 11).

On February 28, our varsity girls’ futsal and boys’ volleyball teams played at Chapel. The girls won (4 x 3), and the boys lost (0 x 3).

Calendar Update

Our Senior Athletes will have their last scheduled SPHSL home games on Friday, March 9. We will take this opportunity to honor and thank them for their participation in high school sports. Please come and thank them with us.

On Saturday, March 10, the JV girls’ volleyball and boys’ futsal teams will have their annual festivals. The girls will play at PACA, and the boys at Chapel.

Financial Aid

On March 10, the Athletic Department will sell espetinho lunch meals to raise funds for athletes. If you are willing to help in any way, please see Mrs. Buchanan.

No dia 23 de fevereiro, os times de vôlei feminino e futsal masculino do varsity jogaram em casa contra a Chapel. As meninas ganharam (3x0), e os meninos perderam (9x6). Agradecemos a todos que vieram torcer pelos nossos times. Os meninos e as meninas do JV ganharam seus jogos também.

No dia 27 de fevereiro, os times de softball masculino do JV e do varsity fizeram a primeira partida da temporada, contra a Chapel. Os dois times ganharam (JV 14 x 1 e varsity 21 x 11).

No dia 28 de fevereiro, as meninas do futsal e os meninos do vôlei do varsity jogaram na Chapel. As meninas ganharam (4 x 3), e os meninos perderam (0 x 3).

Na sexta-feira, dia 09 de março, as meninas do vôlei e os meninos do futsal do JV e do varsity jogarão em casa contra a Graded. Os meninos do JV e as meninas do varsity jogarão primeiro, às 16h30.

Os atletas do 12º ano farão o último jogo em casa da temporada regular da SPHSL na sexta-feira, dia 09 de março. Aproveitaremos essa oportunidade para honrar e agradecer estes alunos por sua participação no programa esportivo da PACA. Por favor, juntem-se a nós nessa homenagem.

No sábado, dia 10 de março, as meninas do vôlei e os meninos do futsal do JV terão os seus festivais anuais. As meninas jogarão na PACA, e os meninos na Chapel.
