Important Dates
Mark your calendars! Several important activities are going to place in the next weeks:
May 25: Choir Concert & NHS Induction
June 3-4: Honors Presentations
June 3-5: Senior Exams
June 8: Graduation
June 10: 8th grade Graduation
June 11: Kindergarten Graduation
June 11-13: HS Finals
June 12-13: 8th grade Science Trip
June 14: Last Day of School
June 15: Alumni Sports Day
June 17: Report Card Distribution

Choir Concert
The Choir Concert will be this Saturday, May 25, at 7 p.m., in the cafeteria. Mark your calendars, and invite your family and friends!

NHS Induction
The National Honor Society is an organization that recognizes honor students throughout the United States and the world. In order to be chosen for NHS, high school students must demonstrate a fine record of scholarship, character, leadership and service to others. New members are selected by the faculty, and they will be inducted into NHS on Saturday, May 25, during the Choir Concert.

Gym Closed
Due to the upcoming graduation ceremonies, the gym will be closed for all activities from May 30 - June 11.

No School
There will be no school on May 30 and 31.The school office will be closed. The teachers will be at ACSI’s National Convention at Mackenzie’s Presbyterian Institute. Several staff members will present at the conference. Over a thousand teachers from all over Brazil are expected at this event. Please pray for us.

Thank You
Thank you to all who helped make the Middle School’s participation in the May Bazaar a success. Without your willingness to give of your time and without your donations, we would not have been able to accomplish our goal. Thanks to your donations the Middle School was able to raise a little more than R$ 2,400 for the Mali Well project. Thank you so very much! (Mr. Rast and Miss Wiebe)

Graduations
The class of 2013 invites you to their graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 8, at 6 p.m. in the school gym. Join us as we celebrate our seniors and bless them as they begin a new phase in their lives.

The 8th grade graduation ceremony will be on June 10. The Kindergarten graduation will happen on June 11. These ceremonies are primarily for the graduates' family members.

Last Day of School
The last day of school is Friday, June 14. Students will be dismissed at 10:30 a.m.

Library News
All library materials must be returned by May 29. Vacation library books may be checked out from June 10 - 14.

NHS
A National Honor Society é uma organização que reconhece mérito de alunos nos Estados Unidos e ao redor do mundo. Para ser escolhido como membro da NHS, alunos do ensino médio precisam demonstrar excelência na área acadêmica, caráter, liderança e serviço ao próximo. Os membros são escolhidos pelo corpo docente. A cerimônia de novos membros acontecerá no sábado, 25 de maio, durante a apresentação do coral.

Ginásio Fechado
Devido às cerimônias de formatura que acontecerão nas próximas semanas, o ginásio ficará fechado para todas as atividades de 30 de maio a 11 de junho.

Não Há Aula
Não haverá aula nos dias 30 e 31 de maio. A secretaria estará fechada. Os professores estarão no Congresso Nacional da ACSI no Instituto Presbiteriano Mackenzie. Muitos professores participarão como palestrantes. Esse evento reunirá em torno de mil educadores de todo o Brasil. Por favor, orem por nós.

Agradecimento
Agradecemos todos os que fizeram com que a participação do middle school no May Bazaar fosse um sucesso! Sem a sua colaboração e sem as suas doações, não teríamos alcançado a nossa meta. O middle school arrecadou mais de R$ 2400 para o projeto “Poços d’Água em Mali,” graças a sua ajuda. Muito obrigado! (Mr. Rast e Miss Wiebe)

Formaturas
A turma de 2013 convida a todos para a sua cerimônia de formatura, que acontecerá no sábado, dia 8 de junho, às 18 horas, no ginásio da escola. Venham comemorar com os alunos e abençoá-los quando eles iniciam um novo capítulo em sua história.

A formatura do 8º ano será no dia 10 de junho. A formatura do Kindergarten está marcada para o dia 11 de junho. Estas cerimônias estão voltadas principalmente para as famílias dos formandos.

Último Dia de Aula
Sexta-feira, dia 14 de junho, é o último dia de aula. Os alunos serão liberados às 10h30.

Notícias da Biblioteca
Todos os materiais da biblioteca deverão ser devolvidos até o dia 29 de maio. Os livros de férias poderão ser retirados de 10 a 14 de junho.

Mother’s Day Tea

    News from the Guidance Office
    The SAT will be administered at PACA this Saturday, May 4. The school campus will be closed for all other activities that day.

    The high school students will take Advanced Placement (AP) exams starting next week:

    • Monday, May 6 – Chemistry
    • Tuesday, May 7 – Spanish Language
    • Wednesday, May 8 – Calculus
    • Thursday, May 9 – English Literature
    • Friday, May 10 – English Language
    • Monday, May 13 – Biology
    • Wednesday, May 15 – US History
    • Thursday, May 16 – World History

    On Wednesday, May 15, admissions officers from Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, UPenn and Stanford will give short presentations about their institutions (undergraduate programs only), with a question and answer period at the end. This informational session will take place at Colégio Etapa, on R. Vergueiro, 1951, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

    No school for Kindergarten Students
    Kindergarten parents, there will be no school for you children on Monday and Tuesday, May 6 & 7.


    CESPE Testing

    Students in 5th, 9th and 11th grades that are part of the dual curriculum will take the CESPE test on May 7, 8 and 9, in the morning.

     

    Athletic Awards Assembly
    The varsity athletic awards assembly is scheduled for Tuesday, May 7, at 2:35 p.m. The boys will meet in the gym, and the girls will meet in the preschool cafeteria.

    Mother’s Day Tea

    Come spend a pleasant afternoon in Tuscany, without having to get on a plane. This year’s Mother’s Day tea will take place next Friday, May 10 at 1:30 p.m. RSVP with Denise Deal in the main office. We will have music, fun, sharing, presentations by the Elementary students and the high school choir and great food!


    May Bazaar


    The May Bazaar is coming up on Saturday, May 11. If you would like to reserve a table to sell your items, all you need to do is sign up. Each table costs R$ 50.  Sign up with Mr. Flurry in the main office.

    The Middle School will have a booth at the May Bazaar to raise money for its “Wells in Mali” Project. These wells can provide health and better living conditions for thousands of needy people in Africa. MS STUCO is asking families to donate things such as new or used clothes, books, toys, etc. to be sold at our booth. Donated items may be delivered to classroom M7 until Friday, May 10.  We are also looking for volunteers to organize the donations on Friday, May 10, and help at the booth on Saturday, May 11.   Your help is appreciated! High school volunteers will receive community service hours.

     

    Parent Advisory Committee Meeting

    The Parent Advisory Committee will have their second meeting of the year on May 13 at 7:30 a.m.  If you have any items you would like to include in the meeting’s agenda, please get in touch with the representatives of your child’s class by May 3.

    Senior Blessing

    Senior families,  on Tuesday, May 14,   we will have our  traditional Senior Blessing. This is a time when teachers bless the seniors with words of encouragement, exhortation,  and prayer.    
    We invite and strongly  encourage  all senior parents and siblings  to join us in the auditorium at 2:35 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served.

    O exame SAT será administrado na PACA nesse sábado, dia 4 de maio. O campus ficará fechado para quaisquer outras atividades neste dia.
    Os alunos do Ensino Médio farão os exames Advanced Placement (que podem valer crédito universitário) a partir da próxima semana:

    Não Haverá Aula para o Kindergarten

    Pais do Kindergarten, não haverá aula para os seus filhos na próxima segunda e terça-feira, dias 6 e 7 de maio.


    Teste do CESPE

    Os alunos do 5º, 9º e 11º anos que fazem parte do currículo duplo farão o teste do CESPE no período da manhã, nos dias 7, 8 e 9 de maio, respectivamente.


    Entrega de Prêmios Esportivos

    Os prêmios dos atletas do varsity serão entregues na terça-feira, dia 7 de maio, às 14h35. Os rapazes se reunirão no ginásio, e as moças no refeitório da pré-escola.



    Chá das Mães – “Uma Tarde na Toscana”

    Venha passar uma tarde agradável na Toscana, Itália, sem precisar pegar um avião.  O chá das mães acontecerá na próxima sexta-feira, dia 10 de maio, aqui na Paca, às 13h30. Faça sua reserva  com a Denise Deal na secretaria. Haverá música,  momentos de descontração, palavra de inspiração, apresentação dos alunos do Elementary, do coral do Ensino Médio e comida típica.  

    May Bazaar

    O May Bazaar acontecerá no sábado, dia 11 de maio. Se quiser comprar uma mesa para a venda de artigos usados, inscreva-se. Cada mesa custa R$ 50.  As inscrições estarão abertas a todos na segunda-feira, dia 29 de abril. 

    Os alunos do Ensino Fundamental II venderão itens usados no dia do May Bazaar para arrecadar fundos para o projeto “Construindo Poços em Mali.” Esses poços serão fonte de saúde e melhores condições de vida para milhares de necessitados africanos. O grêmio estudantil do middle school pede que as famílias doem roupas, livros e brinquedos novos ou em bom estado para vender em sua barraca. As doações deverão ser entregues na sala M7 até o dia 10 de maio. Precisamos também de voluntários para ajudar a organizar as doações no dia 10 de maio e para trabalhar na barraca no sábado, dia 11 de maio. Sua ajuda é preciosa!  Alunos do high school que trabalharem como voluntários receberão horas de serviço comunitário.

    Senior Blessing
