Easter Food Drive

Every year classes bring donations to help Lar Tia Edna, a children’s home PACA has been supporting for over 30 years.   More information was sent home through a letter and is also available on Plus Portals. Please take a look and see what your child’s class needs to bring.  Thank you for contributing!
 


Parent Teacher Student (PTS) Conferences

Parent, Teacher, Student Conferences are coming up in two weeks! Parents, if you have not set up appointments to meet with teachers on Wednesday, April 10, please contact Alice Sena or Marcia Teixeira in the main office to do so. Students in Kindergarten - 12th grade need to accompany their parents to the meetings. Please arrive 30 minutes before your first appointment. This will give you time to look over your child’s portfolio, and prevent the conferences from running late. 
 

News from the Guidance Office

The following college visits will take place in the next days. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
> University of Toronto – April 8, at 10 a.m., in Mrs. Kuhnast’s office
> Goucher College – April 9, at 1:45 p.m., in Mrs. Kuhnast’s office
 


High School Practice Exams

On Saturday, April 13, the 10th and 11th  grade students will take practice tests (simulados) of the ACT, SAT, or ENEM at PACA.   Some of the 12th grade students will participate too. Students need to be on campus by 8:10 a.m. The tests will be over by noon.
 

No School for PK and Kindergarten

Preschool parents, please remember that there will be no school for PK1 and PK2 students (only) on April 11 and 12.

Kindergarten parents, please remember that there will be no school for Kindergarten students (only) on April 15 and 16.

The Science Fair, Art Show, and Library Sale are coming up!   Please reserve the evening of Friday, April 26, on your calendars.

The following books were added to our library catalog this week:
 
Cracking the AP Biology Exam: 2015 Edition – Kim Magloire
 
Math Workbook for the SAT: Version 1.0 – The Princeton Review
 
Reading and Writing Workout for the SAT – Geoff Martz
 
Verbal Workout for the SAT: Version 1.0 – The Princeton Review
 
Series: Elf-Help Books for Kids – Various authors
 
The library will be selling new books in English and Portuguese on Wednesday, April 10, from 8am to 4pm. The items will be on display from April 3-10, so Elementary students can make their wish lists during library class, but the sale will only take place on April 10. Stop by after your PTS conferences to look at the books! The library will accept checks and debit cards. 
 
 

Sports

The Varsity boys' futsal team and the Varsity girls' volleyball team will compete at the Inter 6 tournament, from March 31- April 3. Please pray for our athletes as they prepare for this tournament. 
 
Financial Aid Request Forms
Financial aid request forms for the 2019-2020 school year will be available on April 1, in the main office. All forms are due on April 30, 2019. We will not accept any after the due date. Incomplete forms will not be accepted. The results for requests will be provided after May 20.

Monday: tomato and avocado salad, roast beef, rice, black beans, broccoli & cauliflower, fruit

Tuesday: cooked beets, chicken stroganoff, rice, beans, shoestring potatoes, corn pudding

Anualmente, os alunos trazem doações para ajudar o Lar Tia Edna, um orfanato que a PACA tem apoiado há mais de trinta anos. Uma carta com mais detalhes foi enviada para casa e também está disponível no Plus Portals. Por favor, leiam a carta para saber quais itens a classe do seu filho deve trazer. Obrigado por sua contribuição!
 

Reunião de Pais, Mestres e Alunos 

As reuniões de pais, mestres e alunos acontecerão em duas semanas! Pais, caso ainda não tenha agendado horários para conversar com os profesores na quarta-feira, dia 10 de abril, por favor, entrem em contato com Alice Sena ou Marcia Teixeira na secretaria para fazer isso. Os alunos do Kindergarten ao 12º ano participarão das reuniões juntamente com os seus pais neste segundo semestre. Por favor, estejam na escola trinta minutos antes do seu horário marcado. Isso impedirá que ocorram atrasos em cascata. Use esse tempo extra para olhar a pasta do seu filho.

A biblioteca venderá livros novos em Português e Inglês na quinta-feira, dia 10 de abril, das 8 às 16 horas. Os livros estarão expostos na biblioteca de 03 a 10 de abril. Os alunos do elementary poderão fazer suas listas de pedidos de livros durante as aulas na biblioteca, mas os livros serão vendidos apenas em 10 de abril. Passem na biblioteca depois das suas reuniões com os professores para conferir os livros! A biblioteca aceitará cheques e cartão de débito.
 

Sports

O time de futsal masculino e  o time de vôlei feminino do varsity competirão no torneio Inter 6, de 31 de março a 03 de abril. Por favor, orem pelos atletas que estão se preparando para o torneio.  

Formulários de Solicitação de Ajuda Financeira
Os formulários de solicitação de ajuda financeira para o ano letivo 2019-2020 estarão disponíveis na secretaria no dia 1º de abril. Todos os formulários deverão ser entregues até 30 de abril de 2019. Não aceitaremos formulários entregues após esta data. Formulários incompletos também não serão aceitos. Os resultados dos pedidos serão informados após o dia 20 de maio.

This year’s International Festival will take place on Saturday, March 23. Tickets are already on sale. Parents, please be aware that students may not be bring water guns (of any size or kind) to school on this day.

Updated results
The  JV girls' volleyball team played at Graded on March 16. The score was Graded 2-0 PACA.
 
The JV boys' futsal team played at home against EAC on March 16, and the score was PACA 6-5 EAC.

Os alunos do elementary poderão fazer suas listas de pedidos de livros durante as aulas na biblioteca, mas os livros serão vendidos apenas no dia 10 de abril. Passem na biblioteca depois das suas reuniões com os professores para conferir os livros! A biblioteca aceitará cheques e cartão de débito.

Resultados
O time de vôlei feminino do JV jogou na Graded no dia 16 de março. O resultado foi Graded 2-0 PACA.
 
O time de futsal masculino do JV boys' jogou em casa contra a EAC no dia 16 de março. O placar foi  PACA 6-5 EAC. 

Calendário Esportivo
O time de futsal masculino e  o time de vôlei feminino do varsity competirão no torneio Inter 6, de 31 de março a 03 de abril. Por favor, orem pelos atletas que estão se preparando para o torneio.

Student Intention Form for 2019/20

Parents, several students have not turned in their intention form for the 2019/20 school year. If you have not filled out a form for your child, please do so by March 15. This intention form reserves your child’s spot at PACA for next school year. If you need another copy of the form, please request one from Alice Sena at 5929-9500 or alice.sena@paca.com.br.

International Festival

This year’s International Festival will take place on Saturday, March 23. Tickets are already on sale. Parents, please be aware that students may not be bring water guns (of any size or kind) to school on this day.
 
 
 

Easter Food Drive

The Easter Food drive has begun!  Every year classes being donations to help Lar Tia Edna, a children’s home PACA has been supporting for over 30 years.   More information was sent home through a letter and is also available on Plus Portals. Please take a look and see what your child’s class needs to bring.  Thank you for contributing!
 
 

Parent Teacher Student (PTS) Conferences

Parent, Teacher, Student Conferences are coming up in a month! A letter with detailed information about the meetings was sent home on March 1. Our office staff is already contacting parents to set up appointments to meet with teachers on Wednesday, April 10.  Students in Kindergarten - 12th grade need to accompany their parents to the meetings. Please arrive 30 minutes before your first appointment. This will give you time to look over your child’s portfolio, and prevent the conferences from running late. High school and middle school students that were on the honor roll during 1st and 2nd quarters are exempt from second semester conferences. If your child is exempt from conferences, but you would like to meet with the teachers, you are welcome to do so. 
 


News from the Elementary Principal

We completed our Character First rotation focused on the topic of Respect on March 1, and we will begin a new rotation focused on Gratefulness on March 15. During each rotation, elementary students participate in an assembly and small groups to learn and practice important character traits. The library will be selling new books in English and Portuguese on Wednesday, April 10, from 8am to 4pm. The items will be on display from April 3-10, so Elementary students can make their wish lists during library class, but the sale will only take place on April 10. Stop by after your PTS conferences to look at the books! The library will accept checks and debit cards.

On February 28, our Varsity girls’ volleyball team played at EAC; the score was EAC 2-3 PACA.  
On February 28, our Varsity boys’ volleyball team played at EAC; the score was EAC 3-0 PACA.  
On February 28, our Varsity girls’ futsal team played at EAC; the score was EAC 2-7 PACA.  
On February 28, our Varsity boys’ futsal team played at EAC; the score was EAC 4-1 PACA.

Sports Calendar Update
This Saturday, March 16, PACA will host the JV boys’ futsal festival, from 9 am- 4pm. PACA will kick off the festival with a league game against EAC, at 9am. Come support our boys, and enjoy an "espetinho" lunch. We will sell lunch to raise money for our athletes to go to this semester's tournaments.
 
This Saturday, March 16, our JV Girls' Volleyball team will participate in a festival at Graded. PACA's first game will be a league game against EAC, at 9am, followed by five other games throughout the day. The projected ending time for the festival is 3:30pm. All are welcome to come and support our girls.
 
Fund Raising and Financial Aid  
If you wish to raise funds for the sports tournaments, please print, fill out and hand in the appropriate form. Once you are approved, you may start selling.
 




Menu – March 18 - 22

Monday: escarole with pineapples, diced beef, rice, beans, potatoes, fruit.

Tuesday: cooked beets, chicken Parmesan, rice, beans, broccoli, apple cake

Wednesday: oranges, feijoada, rice, beans, kale farofa, fruit.

Thursday: coleslaw, chicken strips with onions on the side, rice, beans, zucchini and tomatoes, Jell-O.

Friday: corn and peas, pasta Bolognese, rice, vegetables, fruit.

Festival Internacional

O Festival Internacional desse ano acontecerá no sábado, dia 23 de março. Os ingressos já estão à venda. Pais, os alunos não deverão trazer arminhas de água (de qualquer tamanho ou tipo) para escola neste dia.
 
 

Arrecadação de Alimentos

A arrecadação de alimentos começou! Anualmente, os alunos trazem doações para ajudar o Lar Tia Edna, um orfanato que a PACA tem apoiado há mais de trinta anos. Uma carta com mais detalhes foi enviada para casa e também está disponível no Plus Portals. Por favor, leiam a carta para saber quais itens a classe do seu filho deve trazer. Obrigado por sua contribuição! 
 

Reunião de Pais, Mestres e Alunos 

As reuniões de pais, mestres e alunos acontecerão em um mês! Uma carta explicativa foi enviada para casa com os alunos no dia 1º de março. As secretárias já estão entrando em contato com os pais  para agendar os horários dessas reuniões, que acontecerão na quarta-feira, dia 10 de abril. Os alunos do Kindergarten ao 12º ano participarão das reuniões juntamente com os seus pais neste segundo semestre. Por favor, estejam na escola trinta minutos antes do seu horário marcado. Isso impedirá que ocorram atrasos em cascata. Use esse tempo extra para olhar a pasta do seu filho. Neste semestre, os alunos do middle schoole high school que estiveram no honor roll durante o primeiro e o segundo bimestres estão dispensados da reunião de pais, mestres e alunos. Pais de alunos isentos que queiram marcar reuniões com os professores, poderão fazê-lo. 
 

Notícias da Diretora do Elementary

Completamos a série focada em Respeito do programa “Caráter Primeiro” no dia 1º de março. Começaremos a série sobre Gratidão no dia 15 de março. Calendário Esportivo
Neste sábado, 16 de março, a PACA será sede do festival de futsal masculino do JV, das 9 às 16 horas. A PACA fará o primeiro jogo do festival às 9 horas, contra a EAC (jogo da liga). Venham torcer pelos nossos atletas, e almoçar conosco. Venderemos espetinhos para arrecadar fundos para os atletas participarem dos torneios deste semestre. 
 
Neste sábado, 16 de março, as meninas do vôlei do JV participarão de um festival na Graded. O primeiro jogo da PACA (valendo para a liga) será às 9 horas, contra a EAC. Haverá mais cinco partidas durante o dia. O festival está programado para terminar às 15h30. Todos estão convidados para torcer pelas nossas atletas. 
 
Arrecadação de Fundos e Ajuda Financeira
Caso queiram arrecadar fundos para os torneios esportivos, por favor, imprimam, preencham e entreguem o formulário apropriado. As vendas poderão começar a ser feitas, assim que aprovação for concedida.
