Dear Grades 1- 8 Parents and Students,
We hope that you and your family are safe and in good health; and that your children are continuing to learn despite all the current challenges. It is important that we evaluate how our students are learning and developing during their time of distance learning.
We will be applying a remote version of the MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) evaluation for our 1st-8th grade students during the next few weeks, so that we are able to track academic progress and to adapt learning experiences to more fully meet students’ current academic needs.
Grades 2 through 8 students will take 3 evaluations in English: Language, Reading and Math. Grade 1 students will take 2 evaluations in English: Reading and Math. These evaluations will be spread out over the course of a few weeks, to allow students to do their best. Students will be given less classwork and activities to complete on Seesaw or Canvas on their evaluation days. The individual evaluations will take around 45 to 90 minutes to complete.
Your child’s MAP evaluations and dates are attached. If you have more than one child in these grades, you can download the full schedule by clicking here.
Your child will need:
On the day of your child’s MAP evaluation, it is ok to help your child log on. You will need a session name and password.
If you need tech support during the evaluation session, please use the following “zoom” link (https://zoom.us/j/92620699793) to contact Miss Grazi Martins. She will be available throughout the duration of the MAP evaluation to offer live support in English or Portuguese.
Students should complete the evaluation individually. The only support parents should provide is with technology and logistics. By allowing students to answer questions based on their individual understanding, teachers will get the most accurate information to inform future learning experiences. Students should take their time to answer all questions to the best of their ability.
