Parent Roundtables  

PACA’s Parent Roundtables are scheduled for this first semester during the month of September. The meetings will be offered on-campus only, in our Auditorium, from 8:15am – 10:00am. To participate, please sign in.

Covid Protocols  

We know that many protocols related to COVID have been relaxed or even extinguished, such as mandatory use of masks, distancing, acrylic barriers, etc. But we will not forget good hygiene practices which are important for everyone's safety! Students will continue to be encouraged to wash their hands, use the hand sanitizer that remains available in the classrooms, cafeteria, and other areas of the school. We ask parents to continue to encourage their children to maintain these good practices. 

MAP Tests   

Each year, students in Kindergarten through 8th grade take the MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) test. Elementary students (Kindergarten-5th Grade) are taking MAP tests in Reading, Language, & Math during the weeks of August 22-26 and August 29 - September 2. Middle School students will take MAP tests the week of September 5-9.  

Elementary Dismissal & After School Supervision  

Parents, please be prompt in picking up your Elementary age students from their classroom by 3:25 each afternoon. Students in grades Pre-K- 5th grade should not stay on campus after 3:25 p.m. unless they are involved in a school-supervised activity or under the supervision of their parents.   

Permission to Leave Campus  

Students will only be allowed to leave school unaccompanied, by UBER, taxi, or other means, with written parental authorization to the school at [email protected].

Vestibular  

PACA has been following the application period for Brazilian universities entrance exams. A calendar with the dates has already been posted in H2 classroom and now we are sharing the information with you so that you can help us spread the word to family members, students and others interested in national exams.

Lunch  

This year we are changing the system of paying for lunch at school. This week parents will receive an email to sign up.  

The new fees are: 

• Individual meal (purchased per day): R$ 25,00 
• PreK - 5th Grade Semester: R$ 1,800.00 (or 5 x R$ 360.00) 
• Secondary and Adult Semester: R$ 2.000,00 (or 5 x R$ 400,00)

If your child needs an individual meal, please inform the front desk in advance by emailing [email protected]. Payment for individual meals can be made at the school reception by credit card.  

Library News  

This semester, we will charge fines for overdue books (R$ 0,10 per day). Lost books will need to be paid for (cost of the book, multiplied by the current exchange rate, plus a R$15.00 replacement fee, as well as shipping). You will only be able to check out when all charges are paid for. 

Students will be able to check out during recess and while the library is open.  

Parents can check out when visiting the library or by putting books on hold in Destiny, the virtual library catalog, and as soon as it's sorted, we will email them to pick up the book at the library.  

To return the books, parents can drop them off at the front desk or directly at the library. 

Important: the bin to drop off the books at the front gate is no longer available.

Protocolos de Covid  

Sabemos que muitos protocolos relacionados à COVID foram relaxados ou mesmo extintos, tais como o uso obrigatório de máscaras, distanciamentos, barreiras acrílicas etc. Mas não esqueceremos as boas práticas de higiene que são importantes para a segurança de todos! Os alunos continuarão sendo incentivados a lavar as mãos, usar o higienizador de mãos que permanece disponível nas salas de aula, no refeitório e em outras áreas da escola. Pedimos aos pais que continuem incentivando seus filhos a manter estas boas práticas. 

Testes MAP    

A cada ano, os alunos do Kindergarten até o 8º ano fazem o teste MAP (Measure of Academic Progress - Avaliação do Desempenho Acadêmico). Os alunos do ensino fundamental (Kindergarten ao 5º ano) estão fazendo os testes MAP em Leitura, Idioma e Matemática até dia 2 de setembro. Os alunos do ensino médio farão o teste MAP na semana de 5 a 9 de setembro. 

Saída dos alunos do Elementary e Supervisão Pós-aula  

Pais, por favor, sejam rápidos em buscar seus alunos do Elementary em suas salas de aula às 15:25 cada tarde. Os alunos do PreK ao 5º ano não devem permanecer no campus depois das 15h25, a menos que estejam envolvidos em uma atividade supervisionada pela escola ou sob a supervisão de seus pais.

Notícias da Biblioteca  

Neste semestre, iremos voltar a cobrar multa por livros em atraso (R$ 0,10 por dia). Livros perdidos também deverão ser pagos (custo do livro, multiplicado pela taxa de câmbio atual, taxa de substituição de R$15,00, e frete). Novos empréstimos só serão possíveis quando todas as multas ou valores em aberto estiverem pagos.   

Os alunos poderão fazer empréstimos durante o intervalo e enquanto a biblioteca estiver aberta.   

Os pais podem fazer empréstimos quando vierem à biblioteca ou colocando os livros em “hold” no Destiny (catálogo virtual da biblioteca), e assim que estiver separado, enviaremos um e-mail para que possam retirá-lo.   

Para devolver os livros, os pais podem deixá-los na recepção ou diretamente na biblioteca.  

Importante: a caixa para deixar os livros que ficava na portaria não está mais disponível.

Character First  

Character First is PACA’s Social-Emotional Learning program for Elementary students.  

The Character First topics that we will focus on with Elementary students this school year are: Responsibility, Discretion, Honesty, Flexibility, and Enthusiasm. 

We will begin our first Character First rotation of the year on August 19, focused on the topic of Responsibility.  

Students will learn that responsibility is “taking ownership of my thoughts, words, and actions”.  

During each rotation, Elementary students participate in an assembly and small groups. As students learn and practice important characteristics, our goal is for them to grow in their personal relationships and in their relationship with God.

Character First  

Charcter First é o Programa de Aprendizagem Socioemocional da PACA para alunos do Elementary.

Os tópicos que serão abordados este ano com os alunos são: Responsabilidade, Discrição, Honestidade, Flexibilidade e Entusiasmo. 

Iniciaremos nosso primeiro tópico do Character First do ano no dia 19 de agosto, focado no tema Responsabilidade. 

Os alunos aprenderão que responsabilidade é o "tomar posse de meus pensamentos, palavras e ações". 

Durante cada sessão, os alunos participam de uma assembleia e pequenos grupos para aprender e praticar importantes traços de caráter relacionados ao tema.  

Nosso objetivo é que os alunos cresçam em seu relacionamento com Deus e em seus relacionamentos pessoais, conforme eles aprendem e praticam cada um dos traços neste processo.

Notícias da Biblioteca  

Neste semestre, iremos voltar a cobrar multa por livros em atraso (R$ 0,10 por dia). Livros perdidos também deverão ser pagos (custo do livro, multiplicado pela taxa de câmbio atual, taxa de substituição de R$15,00, e frete). Novos empréstimos só serão possíveis quando todas as multas ou valores em aberto estiverem pagos. 

Os alunos poderão fazer empréstimos durante o intervalo e enquanto a biblioteca estiver aberta.   

Os pais podem fazer empréstimos quando vierem à biblioteca ou colocando os livros em “hold” no Destiny (catálogo virtual da biblioteca), e assim que estiver separado, enviaremos um e-mail para que possam retirá-lo.   

Para devolver os livros, os pais podem deixá-los na recepção ou diretamente na biblioteca.  

Importante: a caixa para deixar os livros que ficava na portaria não está mais disponível.
