Updating Student Information

We are still missing electronic student information and medical forms for about ninety students. The information requested is extremely important for student safety. We ask for your cooperation. Please fill out the forms today. If you need to receive the e-mail with the link to the forms once again, please contact Fatima Leitão in the school office.

No School

There will be no school next Monday, September 7, due to the holiday. We ask that Elementary students wear green and yellow on Friday, September 4, to celebrate the Brazilian Independence Day.

Mid-term reports

Parent signed mid-term slips are due on Wednesday, September 9.

News from the Elementary Principal

The elementary Reading Contest (Blast Off Into Reading) is coming up on Friday, September 25, from 8 a.m. to noon. Please mark your calendars! Elementary parents, join your students for the morning activities. 
Student Handbook in Portuguese
The translated student handbook is available in the main office, for parents who wish to have it in Portuguese.

 

ACSI Student Festival

On Saturday, September 12, PACA will participate in ACSI Brazil’s (Association of Christian Schools International) Student Festival at Mackenzie Tamboré. Marcelle Couto, Daniela Hong, Isabella Soares and Lucas Teixeira will be part of the Spelling Bee. Christopher Bann and Richard Bann will compete in the Math Olympics; Jonathan Bizerra, Hannah Hayashi and Pedro Teixeira make up our Knowledge Bowl team.

 

PTS conferences

Parent, Teacher, Student Conferences will be held on Wednesday, October 7. Attendance is required for all Pre-K1 – 12th grade parents and for students in 2nd – 12th grades. Students will take home a letter with more detailed information about the meetings. The office staff will call you to schedule the time of your conferences.

 

School Pictures

Mr. Bernard Moss will take our school pictures on September 14 and 15. On Monday, September 14, students in preschool through 11th grade will take their individual pictures. Elementary students may dress up for their individual pictures. Please remember that if your children choose to dress up, but has P.E. on Mondays, they will need to bring their PE uniforms to change into. The seniors will take their individual pictures, and all grades will take their class pictures on Tuesday, September 15. Elementary students must wear their PACA polos on September 15 to take their class picture. If your child has P.E. on Tuesdays, he/she will need to bring their PE uniforms to change into that day as well.

News from the Guidance Office

Next Wednesday, September 9, KIC University Assist, an organization that takes universities on visits to high schools around the world, will be at PACA for a mini college fair. Fifteen universities will be on campus from 8 to 9 a.m.

Sports

Practice schedule: The practice schedule went back to normal on September 1, with only one hour per sport.

SPSHL update: Our basketball teams played at Graded last week. The boys lost, and the girls secured their first win of the season! Thank you to all those that went to watch and support our JV and varsity teams.

Sports Calendar: We will have home JV girls and varsity basketball games on Friday, September 11, against EAC. We will start with the JV and varsity girls at 6pm. The athletes’ moms will sell popcorn and vintage PACA uniforms during this game, so bring some money along with your PACA spirit!

On Saturday, September 12, there will be a JV soccer festival for boys and girls, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The girls will play at PACA, and the boys will play at Chapel. The athletes need to find their own rides to these venues. Lunch and snacks will be sold at PACA and Chapel, so please send money with your child. The schedule for the tournaments will be posted on our Junior Varsity Edline page.

On Tuesday, September 15, we will have home varsity soccer games against Graded. The varsity girls will play first; their game will begin at 2:45 p.m.

Workshop “Family: God’s Project” with Dr. Jaime Kemp: on September 18 at 8 p.m., September 19 at 7 p.m. and September 20 at 9 a.m., at Primeira Igreja Batista do Socorro (Av. Volunteers for the music department: Any trumpet or clarinet players out there? The music department is looking for volunteers who can come in on an occasional basis to help as a coach for our middle school trumpet and clarinet players. Não Haverá Aula

Não haverá aula na próxima segunda-feira, dia 07 de setembro, devido ao feriado. Pedimos que os alunos do Elementary vistam verde e amarelo na sexta-feira, dia 04, para comemorar a Independência do Brasil.

Boletins mensais (mid-term reports)

Os canhotos dos boletins mensais, assinados pelos pais, deverão ser entregues até o dia 9 de setembro.

O concurso de leitura do Elementary (Lançamento para a Leitura) começará na sexta-feira, dia 25 de setembro, das 8 às 12 horas. Por favor, marquem em suas agendas! Pais do Kindergarten ao 5º ano, venham participar das atividades da manhã com os seus filhos.
Manual do Aluno em Português
A tradução do manual do aluno está disponível na secretaria para os pais que preferem lê-lo em português.

Festival Estudantil da ACSI

No sábado, dia 12 de setembro, a PACA participará do festival estudantil promovido pela ACSI Brasil (Associação Internacional de Escolas Cristãs), que se realizará no Mackenzie Tamboré. Marcelle Couto, Daniela Hong, Isabella Soares e Lucas Teixeira competirão no Soletrando. Christopher Bann e Richard Bann participarão da Olimpíada de Matemática. Jonathan Bizerra, Hannah Hayashi e Pedro Teixeira compõe a equipe que participará do torneio de Conhecimentos Gerais.

Reuniões de Pais, Mestres e Alunos

Pais da pré-escola ao 12º ano, as reuniões de pais, mestres e alunos (PTS conferences) acontecerão na quarta-feira, dia 7 de outubro. A presença dos pais é obrigatória. Os alunos do 2º ao 12º participarão das reuniões junto com os seus pais. Os alunos levarão uma carta para casa com mais detalhes sobre as reuniões. As secretárias ligarão para os pais para agendar as reuniões.

Fotos Escolares

O Sr. Bernard Moss tirará as fotos escolares nos dias 14 e 15 de setembro. Na segunda-feira, dia 14, os alunos da pré-escola ao 11º ano tirarão fotos individuais. Os alunos do Kindergarten ao 5º ano estão dispensados do uniforme nesse dia, e poderão vir mais arrumados para tirarem as fotografias. Contudo, se segunda-feira for dia de Educação Física da classe, é necessário trazer o uniforme de Educação Física para se trocarem. Na terça-feira, dia 15, os formandos farão suas fotos individuais. Todas as séries tirarão fotos da classe na terça-feira. Os alunos do Kindergarten ao 5º ano deverão vestir as camisetas polo da PACA para tirar as fotos da classe no dia 15. No entanto, se tiverem aula de Educação Física às terças-feiras, é preciso trazer o uniforme de Educação Física para se trocarem.

Notícias da Orientadora Educacional

Na próxima quarta-feira, dia 09 de setembro, a KIC University Assist, uma entidade que organiza feiras em escolas de ensino médio em todo o mundo, fará uma minifeira universitária na PACA. Representantes de quinze universidades estarão na escola, das 8 às 9 horas.

Esportes

Horários de treino: Os times voltaram a treinar em horário normal (uma hora de treino por esporte) no dia 1º de setembro.

Resultados da SPHSL: Os times de basquete jogaram na Graded na semana passada. Os meninos perderam, e as meninas obtiveram a primeira vitória da temporada. Agradecemos todos os que assistiram aos jogos e torceram pelos times do JV e do varsity.

Calendário esportivo: As meninas do JV e os times de basquete do varsity jogarão em casa contra a EAC, na próxima sexta-feira, dia 11 de setembro. As meninas do JV e do varsity jogarão primeiro, às 18 horas. As mães dos atletas venderão pipoca e uniformes usados durante o jogo, então tragam alguns reais quando vierem torcer pela PACA!

No sábado, dia 12 de setembro, haverá um festival de futebol do JV, das 9 às 16 horas. As meninas jogarão na PACA, e os meninos jogarão na Chapel. Cada atleta é responsável pelo seu transporte. Almoços e lanches serão vendidos na PACA e na Chapel, portanto, mandem dinheiro para a alimentação do seu filho. Os horários dos jogos estarão na página do Junior Varsity no Edline.

Na terça-feira, dia 15 de setembro, os times de futebol do varsity receberão a Graded. As meninas jogarão primeiro, a partir das 14h45.
