Elementary students (Kindergarten-5th Grade) are taking MAP tests in Reading, Language, & Math during the weeks of May 15-19 and May 22-25. Middle School students (6th – 8th Grade) will take MAP tests on May 29, as well as the week of May 30 - June 2.  A letter with more detailed information was sent to Kindergarten – 8th grade parents last week.    Character First       Character First unit began Friday, May 5. The topic is Enthusiasm, using the definition: “Putting my whole heart into what I do.” During this unit, students will learn about The Fellowship of Christians from Acts 2.   As students learn and practice important characteristics, our goal is for them to grow in their personal relationships and in their relationship with God.         Graduations   The class of 2023 invites you to their graduation ceremony on Saturday, June  3, at 6 p.m. in the school gym. Join us as we celebrate our seniors and bless them as they begin a new chapter in their lives.    The 8th grade graduation ceremony will be on June 10. The Kindergarten graduation will happen on June 6. These ceremonies are primarily for the graduates' family members.     Requesting Documentation   Parents, if you need the school office to provide you with any documentation by the end of this school year, please request it by May 31.    Gym Closed   The gym is closed during these next few weeks due to upcoming end-of-school-year events.     2023-24 VARSITY PRESEASON   Practices begin next week!  Varsity Girls Basketball: Monday @ 3:35 pm and Wednesday @ 4:50 pm.  Varsity Boys Basketball: Monday @ 4:50 pm and Wednesday @ 3:35 pm.  Varsity Girls Soccer: Tuesday @ 3:35 pm and Thursday @ 4:50 pm.   Varsity Boys Soccer: Tuesday @ 4:50 pm and Thursday @ 3:35 pm.  Cheerleading: Monday and Tuesday @ 4:50 pm and Wednesday and Thursday @ 3:35 pm.    Library    The library is getting ready for another end of the school year, so here are some important dates to remember:   - All books and materials must be returned to the library by May 25 (Thursday);   - Students will not be able to check out books during the period of May 25 - June 2;   - On May 30 (Tuesday), we will send out permission slips to all students in grades K-5 to check out books for vacation. These slips must be returned to the library by June 2 (Friday). Each student who returns the signed permission slip will be allowed to check out 8 books for the vacation. No student who has an outstanding fine (for copies or books) or an overdue book may take books;   - The week of June 5-9 will be our vacation check-out week for all students.  Menu 05/22-26   Mon: Meatballs, rice, beans, lettuce, carrots, cucumber, tomato, avocado, corn, cabbage, and fruit   Tues: Grilled chicken fillet, rice, beans, pomodoro zucchini, chayote, lettuce, tomato, arugula, radish, and fruit   Wed: Steak, rice, beans, farofa, escarole, lettuce, vinaigrette, and brigadeiro   Thu: Roast beef, rice, beans, chayote with white sauce, lettuce, tomato, carrot, cucumber, and fruit   Fri: Roast chicken, pasta, tomato sauce with basil, broccoli, chickpeas, lettuce, tomato, and fruit   Note: A second protein option is always available. Os alunos do Middle School (6th – 8th Grade) farão os testes MAP em 29 de maio, bem como na semana de 30 de maio a 2 de junho.  Uma carta com informações mais detalhadas foi enviada aos pais do Kindergarten ao 8th grade na semana passada.    Character First    A unidade do Character First teve início sexta, dia 5 de maio e o assunto é Entusiasmo, definido como “Colocar todo o meu coração no que faço.” Durante esta unidade, os alunos aprenderão sobre A Comunhão dos Cristãos de Atos 2.   Nosso objetivo é que os alunos cresçam em seu relacionamento com Deus e com relacionamentos pessoais, conforme eles aprendem e praticam cada uma das características    Formaturas   A turma de 2023 convida a todos para a sua cerimônia de formatura, que acontecerá no sábado, dia 03 de junho, às 18 horas, no ginásio da escola. Venham comemorar com os alunos e abençoá-los nesse novo capítulo em sua história.    A formatura do 8º ano será no dia 10 de junho. A formatura do Kindergarten está marcada para o dia 06 de junho. Estas cerimônias estão voltadas principalmente para as famílias dos formandos.    Solicitação de Documentos   Pais, caso precisem receber documentos emitidos pela secretaria até o fim desse ano letivo, por favor, façam a sua solicitação até o dia 31 de maio.    Ginásio Fechado   O ginásio está fechado durante as próximas semanas em virtude dos eventos de fim de ano letivo.      2023-2024 PRÉ-TEMPORADA DO VARSITY   Treinos começam semana que vem!  Basquete Varsity Meninas: segundas às 15:35 e quartas às 16:50  Basquete Varsity Meninos: segundas às 16:50 e quartas às 15:35  Futebol Varsity Meninas: terças às 15:35 e quintas às 16:50  Futebol Varsity Meninos: terças às 16:50 e quintas às 15:35  Cheerleading: segundas e terças às 16:50 e quartas e quintas às 15:35.    Biblioteca   A biblioteca está se preparando para mais um final de ano letivo, por isso, seguem algumas datas importantes para lembrar:  - Todos os livros e materiais devem ser devolvidos à biblioteca até 25 de maio (próxima quinta-feira);  - Os alunos não poderão pegar livros emprestados no período de 25 de maio a 2 de junho;  - No dia 30 de maio (terça-feira), enviaremos autorizações a todos os alunos do K-5 para empréstimos de livros para as férias. As autorizações deverão ser devolvidas à biblioteca até 2 de junho (sexta-feira). Cada aluno que devolver a folha de autorização assinada poderá pegar emprestado da biblioteca 8 livros para as férias.
