CESGRANRIO Test

The Portuguese Language proficiency evaluation, administered by CESGRANRIO, on April 4 and 5, was very well organized and ran smoothly. Our students were praised by CESGRANRIO’s official proctors. The proctors asked us to record officially that our students behaved exemplarily. We thank God for directing you, parents, and us, PACA, in this sublime mission that is educating. Soli Deo Gloria!

Parent, Teacher Student Conferences (PTS)

Parent, Teacher, Student Conferences will be held next Wednesday, April 13! If you have not scheduled appointments to meet with your child’s teachers, please contact the school office at 5929-9500 to do so as soon as possible. A few reminders about the meetings:

Students in Kindergarten - 12th grade need to accompany their parents to the meetings.

The preschool teachers will meet with parents only on April 13.

Mrs. Claudia Kuhnast, our guidance counselor, will explain the PSAT report to high school parents in classroom H5, from 8 to 8:20 a.m. and from 1 to 1:20 p.m.

High school students that take AP Biology, AP English Language and AP English Literature will take practice exams on April 13. These students must find their own ride to PACA on this day. The bus service will not be available.

Parents, please arrive at the school thirty minutes before your first appointment. This will give you time to look over your child’s portfolio, and prevent the conferences from running late. Preschool portfolios will be in your child’s homeroom. Elementary portfolios will be handed out in Miss Kierstead’s office. Middle school and high school portfolios will be available in the cafeteria.

New books, in English and in Portuguese, will be on sale in the library. Stop by after your PTS conferences to look at the books.

There will be a bake sale in front of the cafeteria to help athletes raise funds for sports tournaments.

Dengue Fever

·       Parents, during the months of March and April, there was an increase in the number of people who were infected by the dengue fever. We can do our part to reduce these numbers. Dengue fever is transmitted by the bite of the female Aedes aegypt mosquito that grows and multiplies in open sources of water in yards and inside homes. Eliminating the mosquito’s habitats is the only way to prevent the transmission of the disease. The disease does not spread from one person to the next. For this to happen, a mosquito would need to bite an infected The symptoms are: high fever (above 102º F), headaches,  fatigue, muscle pain, joint pain, pain behind the eyes, skin rash and weakness during several weeks. In children, the initial symptoms are high fever, apathy, sleepiness, refusal to eat, vomiting and diarrhea. There is also dengue hemorrhagic fever. After the third day of infection, when the fever begins to break, signs of hemorrhage begin to appear: nose and gum bleeding, vaginal bleeding, bruising and breaking of superficial blood vessels, among others. In rare cases, there could be digestive and urinary bleeding. It is strictly forbidden to administer AAS medication to someone who has dengue. If your child shows symptoms of this disease, please do not send him/her to school. If you have any questions, contact the school nurse, Marcia Kunihiro. The nurse will talk to students about ways to prevent dengue fever and the H1N1 flu, in classrooms, over the next few days.

É proibido administrar a medicação AAS.

Esportes
