News from the Guidance Counselor

Congratulations to the seniors for being accepted to the following universities, so far:
Alex Rast - Taylor University
Matheus Bizetti - Embry Riddle Aeronautical University
Nathalia Lin - Chapman University
Noela Park -Chapman University

Below is a list of the upcoming college visits. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend!

American University in Rome – March 24, at 11:35 a.m. in the small computer lab

High School Practice Exams

This Saturday, March 19, students in grades 10-12 will take several practice tests. The 10th graders will take the PLAN test, the 11th graders will take the practice SAT, and some seniors will take simulados (practice Brazilian college entrance exams). Students taking the simulado need to bring a black pen, pencils and an eraser. This is considered a school day, and attendance is required. Students who miss the practice exams on March 19, and whose absences are considered unexcused, will make up the missed exams on Monday, March 21, in the morning, and will receive unexcused absences in all classes missed.  Students need to be at PACA by 8:45 a.m. on Saturday.

Easter Week

We will have 3 special events next week as we prepare for Easter. On Tuesday, March 22, parents, students, teachers and friends are invited to pray with us for our students and their families, for the PACA community, for our city and our nation. PACA dads are invited to have breakfast and prayer time in the art room with the male teachers at 7:20 a.m.  Dads need to RSVP with Kevin Flurry ([email protected]) for this special breakfast. Elementary parents can pray with their children in their classroom from 8:15 am to 8:30 am. Middle and High School parents can pray with their children in the school’s gymnasium from 8:10 am to 9:00 am. The conference room will be used as a prayer room for those of you who wish to come and pray on campus, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. If you have any prayer requests, please e-mail them to [email protected].

On Wednesday, March 23, join PACA’s teachers and staff in a time of fasting as we seek God’s will for our students, each other, and the school.  If you would like to donate the money you would have spent on food during this day of fasting to Lar Tia Edna, there will be a donation box in the main office.

We will have an Easter sunrise service in the gym on Thursday, March 24, from 6:30 to 7:15 a.m. Our special speaker for this event is Pr. Dale Downs. Childcare will not be available. Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria at 7:15 a.m. for those who participate in the service. Please RSVP here for the Sunrise Service and Breakfast. Our all-school Easter assembly will be held on March 24, at 8:20 a.m., in the gym. Parents and friends are invited to celebrate our Savior’s resurrection with us. Please remember that March 24 is a full day of school.

No School

There will be no school on March 25 and 28, due to the Easter holiday.

Easter Food Drive

Every year, the high school Student Council organizes a food drive to help provide for the needs of the children from Lar Tia Edna. These donations supply the orphanage with over four months of their basic needs.  Each class has been assigned a goal with specific items, in order to use our resources in the best possible way.  Please check with your children to find out which products their classes were assigned to bring. Monetary donations will also be gladly accepted. The food drive will end on Thursday, March 24.

Parent, Teacher Student Conferences (PTS)

Parent, Teacher, Student Conferences are less than a month away! A letter with more information about this event was sent home with your child last week. Our office staff has already begun to call parents to set up appointments to meet with teachers on Wednesday, April 13.  Students in Kindergarten - 12th grade need to accompany their parents to the meetings. Please arrive 30 minutes before your first appointment. This will give you time to look over your child’s portfolio, and prevent the conferences from running late. High school and middle school students that were on the honor roll during 1st and 2nd quarters are exempt from second semester conferences. If your child is exempt from conferences, but you would like to meet with the teachers, you are welcome to do so.

Science Fair & Art Show

The Science Fair, Art Show and Library Sale is coming on Friday, April 29, at 8 p.m. Parents, please mark your calendars accordingly.  Attendance is required for K-8th grade students.
