Remember to submit your Reading Log on Seesaw each week! Please see the Reading Contest Calendar for dress up days and other fun reading events!        Book sale  The library will be selling new and used books in English and Portuguese during the week of October 18-22. An email will be sent for parents to sign up before they visit the library. Cash and debit cards will be accepted.      Book Presentation & Author Visit    The Elementary Reading Contest began Friday, October 1! Among other activities, the Elementary students will participate in a presentation based on the book "O Diário de um Dia da Mosca Sofia", by Paulo Debs. On October 14, we will also have the privilege of having Mr. Paulo Debs meet the students to talk about his book and give them a chance to interact with him via zoom. His book will be on sale until October 22nd and parents can request a copy or more by sending an email to the PACA Library: [email protected]. The cost of the book is R$30,00 (shipping included). Books will be autographed by the author and delivered to your child in the classroom by the end of October.       SPHSL  We are glad to announce the return of the São Paulo High School League (SPHSL) for our Varsity Volleyball and Soccer Teams. This league will be shorter than we are used to, but extremely significant and meaningful nonetheless. It will be a five-team round-robin format, and games will be played on Saturdays. All athletes and everyone involved will be required to take a COVID test and no spectators will be allowed.  PACA will be playing on the following days:   November 6 vs Graded (Home)  November 20 vs Chapel (Home)  December 4 vs St. Paul’s (Away)  December 11 vs EAC (Away)    Important Dates  Oct 15 - No classes due to Teacher’s day.  Oct 29 – Half day of school: Teachers Professional Development Afternoon  Nov 1 and 2 – No classes due to Finados Holiday      PSAT Coming up!  On Tuesday October 26 all PACA students in grades 9-11 will take the PSAT exam at PACA during the school day. This is a significant test and it is important that students come to school well rested that day.   The week preceding the exam students will fill out registration forms during the activity block at the end of the day (9th grade on October 18, 10th grade on October 21, and 11th grade on October 22). This time will also be used to familiarize students with the test format so that they are prepared for the exam on the 26th.           School Pictures  Mrs. Hwang will take our school pictures (individual and class) during the week of October 18 - 21. Students may wear clothing of their own choice, that fits within the PACA dress code.   This year, we have organized the photos by day and by class. Please check which day your child's class will be taking the pictures:  Mon 10/18: 1st, 2nd, and 6th, and 7th grades.  Tues 10/19: PreK 1 and 2, Kindergarten.  Wed 10/20: 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grades.  Thurs 10/21: 3rd, 4th, and 5th.  Frid 10/22: 12th grade.    Changes in school Secretariat  Due to changes in the school secretariat, we are hiring for the front desk position. Este é um teste relevante e é importante que os alunos estejam bem descansados nesse dia.   Na semana que antecede o teste, os alunos preencherão os formulários de inscrição durante o bloco de atividades no final do dia (9th grade no dia 18 de outubro, 10th grade no dia 21 de outubro, e 11th grade no dia 22 de outubro). Este tempo também será usado para familiarizar os alunos com o formato do teste, de modo que eles estejam preparados para o exame no dia 26.       Fotos Escolares  A Sra. Hwang tirará fotos de nossa escola (individual e de classe) na semana de 18 a 21 de outubro.
