News from the Guidance Office

PACA parents,  the guidance department would like to know if you would be willing to talk about your professions with the senior class.  As our oldest students get ready to go out into the world, we would like to them to hear all that they can about what awaits them in their chosen professions, or help them chose their professions, if they are still doing so. Middle School Rafting Trip

The middle school will go rafting on Tuesday, March 5, on the Juquiá River. They will leave PACA at 8:20 a.m. and return at 5:00 p.m. The bus will make stops along the Marginal on the way home, so that parents can meet their children at the designated places (the BR gas station near Eusébio Matoso, Extra-Baby Beef or SP Market). The rafting will be supervised by the Canoar Group. They are excellent instructors and very safety conscious. Students will need to work in groups to help guide their boat down the river. The purpose of this trip is to teach teamwork as they face this adventure.

Biology Trip

Next Wednesday, Prof. Silvano, Mrs. Zuercher and Mr. Dewey will set off with the sophomore class for an ecological field trip to Marujá, on Ilha do Cardoso, near the southern border of the state of São Paulo.

The purpose of the trip is to see the glory of God’s creation and for students to experience different ecosystems found in Brazil.  They will have the opportunity to hike through the Atlantic rainforest and swim in waterfall, an estuary and a mangrove swamp.  Students will identify the structure and composition of each system then compare and contrast them in terms of temperature, elevation, moisture, sunlight, animals, plants and soil types.  The trip also provides plenty of time for relaxing, class bonding and worship.

Easter Food Drive

The high school Student Council organizes a food drive every year to help provide for the needs of the children from Lar Tia Edna. These donations supply the orphanage with over four months of their basic needs.  Each class has been assigned a goal with specific items, in order to use our resources in the best possible way.  Please check with your child to find out which products his or her class was assigned to bring. Monetary donations will also be gladly accepted. The food drive will end on March 26. An e-mail with more information will be sent to families. Thank you for your generosity toward the children at Lar Tia Edna!

International Festival

This year’s International Festival will take place on Saturday, April 13. Please mark your calendars! This is considered a school day. Come and enjoy good food and fun activities!

Science Fair, Art Show and Library Book Sale

The Kindergarten – 8^th grade Science Fair, Art Show and Library Book Sale are coming up on Friday, April 19, from 8:00 – 9:30 p.m. Please remember that your child’s attendance is required. 

Photographer on Campus

We will have an authorized photographer on campus taking pictures of our school and students for marketing, publication, website, or other printed material.  Please contact the school office if you do not want your child’s picture taken.  School policy is to protect the privacy and safety of students at PACA.  Therefore, student information (such as name, telephone number, email, etc.) is not associated nor released with images used in promotional materials.

Calendar Change

ACSI Brasil is celebrating its 10^th anniversary with a special convention on May 30 and 31, 2013. All of our teachers will attend this conference, so there will be no school on Friday, May 31.

Os nossos formandos se preparam para enfrentar o mundo, e gostaríamos que eles ouvissem tudo o que puderem sobre as profissões que escolheram, e também ajudar os indecisos a escolherem uma profissão. Excursão do Middle School: Rafting

Os alunos do 6º ao 8º ano farão canoagem no Rio Juquiá na terça-feira, dia 5 de março. Os alunos sairão da PACA às 8h20 e retornarão às 17 horas. Na volta, o ônibus fará paradas pela Marginal Pinheiros para facilitar o encontro entre pais e filhos. Os pontos de encontro são: o posto BE próximo à Eusébio Matoso, Baby Beef do Extra Morumbi ou SP Market). A canoagem será supervisionada pelo Grupo Canoar, que tem excelentes instrutores que se preocupam muito com segurança. Os alunos trabalharão em grupos para descer com o barco rio abaixo. O propósito dessa viagem é ensinar os alunos a trabalharem em grupos enquanto eles encaram essa aventura.

Viagem da Turma de Biologia

Na próxima quarta-feira, o Prof. Silvano Kubo e a Prof. Susie Zuercher levarão os alunos do 10º ano para uma viagem ecológica em Marujá, na Ilha do Cardoso, no sul do estado de São Paulo.

O propósito da viagem é observar a glória da criação de Deus e dar uma chance aos alunos de conhecerem os diferentes ecossistemas encontrados no Brasil. O grupo fará caminhadas pela Mata Atlântica, nadará numa cachoeira, econhecerá estuário e um mangue. Os alunos identificarão a estrutura e composição de cada sistema, e compararão e contrastarão temperaturas, elevação, umidade, luz solar, fauna, flora e tipos de solo. Os alunos também terão tempo de descanso, comunhão e louvor.

Arrecadação de Alimentos

Todos os anos, o grêmio estudantil organiza uma arrecadação de alimentos em prol das crianças do Lar Tia Edna. Essa campanha supre as necessidades básicas do orfanato durante quatro meses. Cada classe tem o alvo de arrecadar itens específicos de forma a otimizar a utilização de recursos obtidos. Por favor, verifiquem com seus filhos quais são os alimentos de responsabilidade de suas classes. Doações em dinheiro também são bem-vindas. A arrecadação de alimentos se encerrará no dia 26 de março. Um e-mail com mais informações será enviado aos pais. Agradecemos sua generosidade para com as crianças do Lar Tia Edna!

A Feira de Ciências, Exposição de Artes e venda de livros da biblioteca acontecerão na sexta-feira, dia 19 de abril, das 20 às 21h30. Marquem a data em seus calendários! A presença dos alunos é obrigatória.

Uma profissional autorizada tirará fotos das nossas instalações e dos alunos para publicações de marketing, para o website e para o material promocional da PACA. Caso não queira que o seu filho seja fotografado, por favor, notifique a secretaria. É política da escola proteger a privacidade e a segurança dos alunos. Portanto, os dados dos alunos (como nome, telefone, endereço eletrônico, etc.) não estarão vinculados nem serão divulgados com as imagens usadas no material promocional.

Alteração ao Calendário

A ACSI Brasil comemorará os seus 10 anos com um grande congresso nos dias 30 e 31 de maio de 2013. Todos os nossos professores participarão deste congresso, portanto, não haverá aula na sexta-feira, dia 31 de maio.
