Queridos pais,   Olimpíadas de Matemática Na semana passada, dias 26 e 27 de Março, 25 alunos do 9o, 10o e 11o participararam da 16a edição da Olimpíada Canguru de Matemática no Brasil. A Olimpíada Canguru de Matemática, que faz parte da Association Kangourou Sans Frontieres está presente em 95 países há pouco mais de 30 anos e faz concursos de matemática para alunos do 3rd grade até o 12th grade. Os alunos participantes puderam escolher se queriam fazer a prova em Português ou Inglês. Estamos muito orgulhosos dos alunos que optaram por participar e esperamos que no 3 de junho, data da divulgação dos resultados, tenhamos mais motivos para comemorar. Dia 4 de junho, estaremos aplicando, aqui mesmo na escola, a 1a fase da OBMEP (Olimpíada Brasileira de Matemática) para os alunos do 6o ao 12o ano que estiverem interessados. Ano passado tivemos 3 medalhistas de Bronze na modalidade estadual, Jun Yoshikawa, Felipe Wilken e Alec Hayashi. Teste de Proficiência do Currículo Brasileiro A PACA sempre teve a preocupação de submeter nossos alunos a testes de proficiência a fim de medirmos os nossos resultados educacionais. Para o currículo americano, usamos há anos o MAP Test, três vezes por ano. Por muitos anos, os alunos do 5o, 7o, 9o e 11th, faziam também o teste da Cesgranrio para avaliação dos conteúdos do currículo brasileiro.  Este mês de abril, durante dos dias 16 a 18, nossos alunos do 5o, 7o, 9o e 11os anos farão uma prova da empresa Evolucional a fim de colhermos dados sobre a eficiência do nosso serviço educacional. Para os 5os e 7os anos, as provas serão de Português, Redação e Matemática e para o 9o e 11o serão provas no modelo ENEM, com assunto pertinente à série, mas com todas as matérias integradas. As provas acontecerão durante o horário normal de aula, serão todas impressas (modelo físico) e em português. Ao final, os senhores receberão um detalhado relatório de conhecimento dos seus filhos e uma régua de comparação individual, por classe, por escola, por cidade, por estado e no país.  A Evolucional é uma empresa que presta serviço de testagem para mais de 7.300 escolas, em 1200 cidades do Brasil e com mais de 5 milhões de testes aplicados. Dear Parents, Mathematics Olympiads Last week, on March 26th and 27th, a total of 25 students from Grades 9, 10, and 11 participated in the 16th edition of the Kangaroo Mathematics Olympiad in Brazil. This international competition, organized by the Association Kangourou Sans Frontieres, has been held in 95 countries for over 30 years, offering math challenges to students from 3rd grade to 12th grade. The students had the option to choose between taking the test in Portuguese or English. We are extremely proud of our students who decided to take part in this competition, and we are looking forward to celebrating their achievements when the results are announced on June 3rd. On June 4th, we will be hosting the 1st phase of the OBMEP (Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad) right here at the school, open to students from Grades 6 through 12 who are interested in participating. Last year, we had 3 students, Jun Yoshikawa, Felipe Wilken, and Alec Hayashi, who received Bronze medals in the state category. Brazilian Curriculum Proficiency Test PACA has always been committed to assessing our students' educational progress through proficiency tests. While we have been using the MAP test for the American curriculum three times a year, we have also been utilizing the Cesgranrio test for students in Grades 5, 7, 9, and 11 to evaluate their understanding of the Brazilian curriculum. This April, from the 16th to the 18th, students in Grades 5, 7, 9, and 11 will be taking a test provided by Evolucional to gather data on the effectiveness of our educational program. The tests for Grades 5 and 7 will cover Portuguese, Writing, and Mathematics, while Grades 9 and 11 will follow the ENEM model, focusing on a relevant topic for each grade but integrating all subjects. The tests will be administered during regular class hours, in a printed (physical) format and in Portuguese. After the tests, you will receive a comprehensive report on your child's performance, along with an individual comparison across class, school, city, state, and country.
