In this world, we can find many diet trends, promising solutions and health through fake nutrition. I believe that many ignore the nutritional knowledge found in the Bible. There is a way of eating and living that prioritizes physical and spiritual health as a combined unit. A Christian food based diet is not just avoiding certain foods, it is a choice we make to honor God with our bodies and minds.
Jordan Rubin is a nutritionist who had terminal cancer and Crohn’s disease. He was healed through a biblical diet he created. In his book, The Biblio Diet, he talks about how even though the diet might not be a miracle for all, his diet gave him the health to continue on.
Rubin said, “This diet can help people live long, master metabolism, fight depression, reduce pain, and conquer cancer.”
This diet begins with the following: our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). This understanding transforms eating for necessity, into an act of worship.
It encourages us to eat the natural foods described in Genesis, fruits, vegetables, grains, and clean meats while avoiding the processed chemical foods so common today. In my opinion, this is a much better choice than chasing fake trends. These fake trends include protein shakes, pills, processed foods and diet injections. The biblical path encourages good dietary principles and clean eating guidelines mentioned throughout scripture.
I truly believe that living a Christian life means watching what we eat, as well as watching how we use that nutrition to move our bodies. Working out is not about pride. Walking outside or just moving every day allows us to honor the body God gave us. It shows we are thankful for being able to move and be alive. In my opinion, this physical working of our bodies helps us improve spiritually too.
It is my observation that, just like our bodies need food, our souls need a spiritual diet. We need His Word every day. This spiritual food makes us strong inside. It helps us fight sin and live how God wants. Our faith grows when we focus on the Truth. This spiritual health makes our physical health better in return.
In the end, I believe that this way of life is better, because it connects our body, mind, and spirit together. This is more than just dieting, it is about honoring the one who made us. We live healthy for His glory by following these rules. We find a lasting health and peace that the world can never offer. It is a daily promise to live well in every way.
I can not personally say that I follow a biblical diet a hundred percent of the time, because I sometimes slip up. However, don’t take my word for it. Take the story of Rubin in consideration. He is a living example that this diet (natural foods described in Genesis, fruits, vegetables, grains, and clean meats) can transform lives.
I strongly recommend this diet to those who want to change their habits and create a healthier lifestyle.
