The song “Call My Bluff” by the music artist Tate McRae was written on the 21st of February, 2025. This song is the twelfth track on the physical releases of Tate’s third studio album, “So Close to What???“

Originally, “Call My Bluff” was supposed to be released as a digital, as well as a physical release, but then was made into an exclusive track on the physical releases. It was then taken off the album due to the full album leaking in January of 2025. “Call My Bluff” is a slower paced song compared to her other songs in previous albums.

Fans of these previous albums will most likely be the first to notice the sudden change in style for Tate in this new album. There seems to be a priority given to hypersexualizing her image over providing room for her vocal and performance talents to take center stage.

Tate McRae’s music style is a blend of dance-pop, R&B, and alternative pop with a modern take on early 2000s aesthetics. Her early music became viral due to her debut song, “One Day” which she recorded on her own. Her music often has danceable beats, powerful vocals and emotional lyrics about her past, present and future.

It was after this hit that she signed with a record label in 2019, which some say has slowly been reshaping the way that she makes music and presents herself as an artist.

Danceable beats in her music are a must because of her background as a dancer. These beats allow for breathtaking performances and dance moves that are choreographed differently for each different stadium.

Unfortunately, these performances have become increasingly erotic in nature and her lyrics are more than suggestive and completely inappropriate for young audiences. That is why most of the songs on her new album are not appropriate for an audience that is conscious of dirty language or suggestive overtones.

The song, “Call my Bluff” is the 16th song on the 21 track album, and it is one of the few songs on the album without swear words or sexual content. It was first recorded at the Atlantis “The Royal” resort in Dubai. She teased the song there in a TikTok video in October 2022. The music video was also filmed there at the newly opened resort.

The song was officially recorded in 2024 with others who co-wrote the song. The other producers who helped write the song were Emile Haynie, Amy Allen and it was produced by Emile Haynie who worked with her in a professional studio.

Since then, the song “Call my Bluff” has been officially released with the 21-Track Deluxe version of “So Close to What???” on November 21, 2025, and it is available on various streaming platforms, including YouTube and Genius.

I would definitely recommend listening to it because it is slow but it does have a story behind it. I like this song and if I could listen to it on repeat I would.
