The Elementary School includes students in Grades 1 through 5. The curriculum is on par to that of the best private and public schools in the U.S. Curriculum areas include math, literature, language arts, physical and biological science, social studies, art, music, library and physical education. Class assemblies and field trips supplement content areas.
The Elementary School at PACA offers a program, in the English language, that is comparable to that of schools in the United States. The Elementary School follows a developmentally appropriate program that incorporates whole class, small group and individual instruction.
In the first and second grades the children are taught to read and write through a balanced literacy program that focuses on the areas of reading, writing and phonics. Students continue to build on their academic foundation, with a focus on reading to learn through the content areas.
Textbooks and support materials are purchased mainly in North America, and support materials are also teacher made. Every effort is made to ensure that the school materials reflect the standards and multicultural nature of the school. High academic standards are balanced by a concern to develop students' physical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs.
A school-wide expectation is that all students will become bilingual. The Brazilian

| students are also enrolled in Brazilian Program studies taught by qualified elementary Brazilian teachers. The Brazilian students are provided with English language support when deemed necessary. English speaking expatriates and students of other nationalities and languages have daily classes in Portuguese as a second language. Specialists teach art, music, and physical education.
