| News from the Elementary PrincipalDuring the month of the Elementary reading contest, the Elementary students (and anyone else who would like to participate) will collect money to give Ethiopia clean water. The money we raise will be donated toward the purchase of drilling equipment that will make clean water more of a possibility in Africa.
The Elementary students are bringing in coins and filling up used water bottles, which we will recycle after this project is over.
If you prefer to donate directly to the charity "Water," please go to the website below. The website will notify us when a donation is received. The link also includes an informative video about the project we are helping.

Our goal is to raise US$5000. We are contacting friends and family to join us in this opportunity to follow Matthew 25:35, "I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink."

| Notícias da Diretoria do ElementaryDurante o mês de outubro, os alunos do Elementary (e todos que quiserem participar) vão arrecadar dinheiro para a construção de poços de água potável na Etiópia. As doações serão utilizadas para comprar um equipamento de perfuração.
Os alunos do Elementary estão colocando suas moedas em garrafas d'água usadas, que serão recicladas quando o projeto terminar.
Caso prefiram fazer uma doação diretamente para a organização "Water," por favor, visite o site abaixo. O site nos informará sempre que uma doação for feita. É possível também assistir um vídeo sobre o projeto "Water" no site.

Representatives will explain what life as a student in the UK is like, how the visa process works, what it is like to work in the UK, and much more. There is no admission charge, but students need to sign up online to be able to attend. The event will take place at the Centro Brasileiro Britânico - Rua Ferreira de Araújo, 741 - Pinheiros. Next Saturday, October 15, the sophomores and the juniors will take the PSAT exam at PACA. This is a preparatory exam for the SAT, and it is, by far, the best way to understand how this test works. PACA uses these scores to evaluate the strength of our program. October 15 is considered a school day; therefore, attendance is required.
On Saturday, October 29, the seniors that are part of the Brazilian curriculum will take the practice ENEM. Attendance is required. No próximo sábado, dia 15 de outubro, os alunos do 10º e do 11º ano farão o exame PSAT na PACA. Este exame é uma preparação para o SAT e é a melhor maneira de entender como o SAT funciona. A PACA usa este instrumento para avaliar o nosso programa. O dia 15 é considerado um dia letivo, e por este motivo, a presença dos alunos é obrigatória.
No sábado, dia 29 de outubro, os alunos do 12º ano que fazem parte do currículo brasileiro farão o simulado do ENEM. A presença é obrigatória. Para saber mais, entrem em contato com o o Instituto Henfil no 3262-4496, ou acessem cursoenem.org.br. | Library NewsThe PACA library will host SBS (Special Book Services) as they sell new English books for Pre-K through high school students on Friday, October 14 (PTS Conference day). Books can be purchased that day from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. SBS accepts cash, credit cards and checks. Please come with your child after your conferences so that you have plenty of time to look through the books and discover fun options for reading. Elementary students will have their library time to look at the books and even make wish lists. The actual sale will only take place on Friday, and on that day the library will also have a used book sale in the Elementary library.

| Notícias da BibliotecaA biblioteca da PACA receberá a SBS (Special Book Services), na sexta-feira, dia 14 de outubro (dia da reunião de pais, mestres e alunos). Os livros estarão à venda das 7h30 às 16h30. A SBS aceita pagamentos em cheque, cartão e dinheiro. Confiram as opções divertidas de leitura para alunos do Pre-K ao high school após a sua reunião. Desta forma, você terá mais tempo para olhar os livros. Os alunos do Elementary poderão folhear os livros na biblioteca e anotar os livros que gostariam de comprar com antecedência. A venda acontecerá apenas no dia 14 e neste dia a biblioteca também terá uma feira de livro usados na biblioteca do Elementary.

| News from the Secondary PrincipalGood news! PACA Middle School is declaring the weekend of October 8 - 9 a "No Homework Weekend!" This means that kids won’t have any studying, projects, worksheets or outline to do over the weekend. Teachers won’t be collecting assignments or giving tests on Monday either. We are working on ensuring that homework is an essential and productive part of the learning process but that it doesn't overwhelm students and their families. If this weekend goes well, we plan to repeat it every month and we will announce the dates in advance so that you can know that your children will be homework free that weekend. | Notícias do Diretor do Middle SchoolBoas notícias!
