PACA science teacher, Nelson Dewey, is taking the 8th grade on a field trip today to Brotas, which is one of the practical parts of their science curriculum this year. They will stay at the Acampamento Peraltas and will visit the Centro de Estudos do Universo. They’ll be busy checking out planets and stars through telescopes and a visit to the planetarium.
Prof. Nelson Dewey está supervisionando os alunos do 8º ano no seu passeio para Brotas, uma das partes práticas do seu currículo de Ciências deste ano. Ficarão hospedados no Acampamento Peraltas e visitarão o Centro de Estudos do Universo. Estarão ocupados com o estudo dos planetas e estrelas, através do uso de telescópios e visitarão o Planetário.
MIDDLE SCHOOL FIELD TRIP - PASSEIO DO 6º E 7º ANOS
While the 8th grade students are star gazing, the 6th and 7th graders will visit the Hopi Hari theme park near Campinas tomorrow, Friday. This is an annual event for our 6th and 7th graders.
Enquanto os alunos do 8º ano estão olhando as estrelas, os alunos do 6º e 7º anos vão passear no parque temático Hopi Hari, perto de Campinas, amanhã, sexta-feira.
SPORTS - ESPORTES
Sports Practices: Varsity teams will have 3 more pre-season practices on June 2, 3 and 4. First practice will be cheerleading, girls basketball, boys soccer, and second practice, girls soccer and boys basketball
Physicals: All JV and varsity athletes must have a medical exam before practicing sports for the 2008/09 school year. We hope to offer this service at PACA where a doctor will give the physicals for students at a reasonable cost. If parents prefer, students may pick up a medical form in the main office to take to the doctor of their choice.
Aerobic Points: All P.E. and sports credit students need to report their aerobic points, for 5 weeks, on Monday, June 2.
Fitness Tests: All P.E. and sports credit students will take fitness tests during the week of June 2 -6.
Tennis Balls: The P.E. department is offering a unit in Rackets - tennis, badminton and table tennis. We have lost a number of tennis balls in this unit. Do you have any old tennis balls around the house that you would be willing to donate to PACA for this unit?
K-5 Field Day: In the afternoon of June 12 , we will have a Field Day on the soccer field around the theme “Olympics”.
Treinos preliminares: Nos dias 2, 3 e 4 de junho haverá treinos para a próxima temporada, das 15h30 às 16h35, do cheerleading, basquete feminino e futebol masculino; o 2º treino, das 16h40 às 17h45, do futebol feminino e basquete masculino.
Atestado médico: No próximo ano letivo, os alunos que fazem parte de algum time, precisarão entregar um atestado médico antes de participar dos treinos. Ofereceremos a opção de fazer o exame na escola, ou os alunos podem retirar um formulário no escritório e levar ao médico da sua escolha.
Aeróbica: A verificação de pontos de aeróbica, pelas últimas cinco semanas, deve ser entregue no dia 2 de junho pelos alunos do 6º ao 11º anos.
Testes de aptidão esportiva serão realizados nos dias 2 a 6 de junho.
Tênis: Nas aulas de educação física, estamos ensinando tênis, badminton e ping-pong. Perdemos muitas bolas de tênis durante as aulas. Se você quiser colaborar com o Departamento de Educação Física doando bolas de tênis, por favor, envie-as para a escola.
Tarde de Esportes: No dia 12 de junho, os alunos do kindergarten ao 5º ano, participarão numa tarde de esportes sobre o tema “Olimpíadas”.
NEWS FROM GUIDANCE OFFICE - NOTÍCIAS DA ORIENTADORA EDUCACIONAL
Parents of 9th graders – course registration sheets for next year were handed out on Tuesday to freshmen. They are due to Mrs. Morosov by TOMORROW, Friday, May 30. Contact Ms. Marshall in the Counseling Office with questions or concerns.
Pais dos alunos no 9º ano: formulários para os alunos se matricularem nas várias matérias oferecidas para o 9º ano, foram distribuídos essa semana. Devem ser entregues até amanhã, dia 30 de maio, no escritório da Orientadora Educacional. Ligue para Ms. Marshall se tiver alguma dúvida.
GRADUATIONS - FORMATURAS
The Class of 2008 invites you to their graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 7 at 6 p.m. Come celebrate the end of a journey and the beginning of a new phase in their lives.
Other graduation ceremonies will be held during June for Kindergarten and 8th grade students, which are primarily for family members.
A classe de 2008 gostaria de convidá-lo para a cerimônia de formatura no sábado, dia 7 de junho, às 18 horas. Venha celebrar o fim de uma jornada e o começo de uma nova etapa nas suas vidas.
Haverá outras formaturas durante o mês de junho: alunos do kindergarten e do 8º ano, cerimônias, principalmente, para suas famílias.
HIGH SCHOOL EXAMS - PROVAS FINAIS
Final exams for students in grades 9-11 will be held June 10-12. There will be two exams each morning. At lunch time students are free to sign out of school and return home. Once they have left school they are not allowed to return. Those students who need to await school transport must use the study areas designated to them for the afternoon.
Os exames finais dos alunos do 9º ao 11º anos, serão realizados nos dias 10 a 12 de junho. Haverá dois exames cada manhã. Os alunos podem voltar para casa depois das provas, mas uma vez que saiam da escola, não poderão voltar. Para os alunos que precisam aguardar o transporte escolar teremos lugares específicos onde poderão estudar no período da tarde.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL - ÚLTIMO DIA DO ANO LETIVO
School will be dismissed at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 13. Parents are invited to the awards ceremonies in the students’ homeroom classrooms at 8:10 a.m. and then the all-school assembly at 9 a.m.
A escola fechará para as férias no dia 13 de junho. Os alunos voltarão para casa às 10 horas. Os pais estão convidados para as premiações nas classes às 8h10 e depois para a assembléia, no ginásio, às 9 horas.
LOST AND FOUND - ACHADOS E PERDIDOS
During these last weeks we have displayed the lost and found items once a week for students to check. On the last day of school, all items will be set out on the tables near the swimming pool. Parents who come to the last day assembly should check. Any left over items will be sent to an orphanage.
Durante as últimas semanas temos exibido todos os itens da caixa de achados e perdidos. No último dia de aula, colocaremos tudo que resta nas mesas perto da piscina para os pais darem uma última olhada. Todos os itens que ficarem na escola serão doados para um orfanato.
LIBRARY - BIBLIOTECA
The Library wants to encourage all parents to return their library books by this Friday, May 30, and to help their children clear their library accounts. Vacation books can be checked out during the week of June 2.
Pedimos aos pais que devolvam os livros da biblioteca até amanhã, dia 30 de maio, e também ajudem seus filhos a ficarem em dia com suas contas na biblioteca. Livros podem ser retirados para as férias, na semana de 9 a 13 de junho.
BEREAVEMENT - CONDOLÊNCIAS
It is with great sadness that we inform the PACA community that alumni, John Fawcett, husband of Margie and father of Charlotte and Josiah, son of Bill and Mary Fawcett, passed away on Tuesday morning, May 27, after many months battling cancer. We call on the PACA community to pray for the family at this time of great sadness, that the consolation and peace of the Holy Spirit will be very real to each of them.
É com muito pesar que comunicamos o falecimento, no dia 27 de maio, do ex-aluno da PACA, John Fawcett, marido da Margie e pai de Charlotte e Josiah, filho mais velho do Bill e Mary Fawcett (presidente do Conselho Diretivo da PACA), após muitos meses batalhando contra o câncer. Chamamos a comunidade da PACA a orar pela família nesta hora de dor e tristeza, para que as consolações e paz do Espírito Santo sejam bem presentes na vida deles.
