Tournament Rules

BIG 8 - Tournament Rules of Conduct

  1.  Normal school rules apply and must be enforced by each school.  Coaches and chaperones take full responsibility for the behavior of their students at all times. They have the right to check suspicious behavior involving students from any school and inform the host Athletic Director (AD). If necessary, all ADs should be consulted before punishment is administered.
  2. The possession of tobacco, alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited.  Offenders will NOT be allowed to continue to participate in the tournament and may be sent home at the family’s expense.
  3. Participants are not allowed to leave the camp without permission and must remain in well-lit areas.
  4. Participants are not permitted in the cabins of others for any reason.
  5. Sportsmanship and proper conduct are to be demonstrated at all times. Inappropriate use of language, arguing with officials, and inappropriate cheering or distracting teams will not be tolerated.
  6. Keep cabins clean at all times.
  7. Each person is responsible for removing his/her own dishes.  No food eating contests, food throwing, banging on tables, or standing on the table or chairs will be accepted.  No one is allowed inside of the cafeteria or gymnasium without wearing a shirt.  Cleats are not to worn in the cafeteria.
  8. Swimming or boating is not allowed without a monitor.  Proper swimming attire should be worn (no street clothes are permitted).  No horseplay or throwing people into the pool or ponds.
  9. No student is allowed on the third floor of the "Village" without permission.
  10. No noisemakers (drums, horns, whistles, megaphones, trumpets, etc)
  11. No initiating or mistreating anyone who is at the camp for their first time.
  12. Curfew is 11:00 p.m. All athletes must be in their cabins by this time.
  13. Student-athletes may not leave the camp during the tournament. If a student-athlete leaves the camp, he or she may not return. Arriving late or leaving the tournament early may be permitted at the discretion of the individual school.

The corrective measures are as follows:

  • ineligibility for participation in their next scheduled game;
  • ineligibility for further participation in the tournament (this would include games, dances, awards ceremony, T-shirts, etc.)
  • sent home early at the expense of the parents;
  • more penalties at the home school.
